Summary:

The VP Projects, North America is responsible for establishing and leading the regional cross functional teams, driving strategic initiatives, and overseeing the successful execution of complex, high-impact programs, engineering and service deliverables. This role involves managing risks, resolving critical issues, and handling dependencies across a diverse customer portfolio, ensuring all programs align with the organization’s strategic goals and business objectives. With extensive experience in business processes the VP provides visionary leadership, fosters a culture of excellence, and excels in agile and program model structures.

Job Details:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of cross functional business functions, both internal and contracted, fostering a culture of cross functional collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation
  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities Lead programs driving innovation and manage delivery across multiple workstreams, consistently assessing trade-offs and ensuring alignment with customer objectives and global strategic objectives
  • Work with the global organization to establish processes and best practices to deliver exceptional customer-facing delivery across the regional functions.
  • Develop regional deviations from global processes as required with support from the global Powin business
  • Provide strategic vision and direction for the regional business function, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and long-term objectives
  • Lead the development and implementation of regional policies, standards, and frameworks across the organization to ensure consistency and excellence
  • Generate and maintain a 12-month project roadmap in conjunction with business leaders, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and organizational priorities
  • Drive the adoption of best practices and innovative methodologies to enhance project management capabilities and organizational efficiency
  • Serve as the high-level escalation point for project stakeholders, including clients, executive management, and team members, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution
  • Oversee the planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of all projects within the portfolio, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Establish and maintain effective governance structures for project and program management, including risk management frameworks, escalation protocols, and performance metrics
  • Ensure the successful execution of programs and projects, meeting timelines, budgets, and quality standards while driving continuous improvement
  • Identify, assess, and manage high-level project risks, roadblocks, and issues, implementing effective mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity
  • Develop dashboards, reporting, and analysis to provide clear visibility into the project portfolio and inform strategic decision-making
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with senior executives, key stakeholders, and external partners to secure buy-in and support for project initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with other business units to identify and map key processes and dependencies across the portfolio, ensuring integrated and cohesive project delivery
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging practices, integrating new tools and methodologies to continuously improve project management processes and maintain competitive advantage
  • Work closely with Finance and Accounting to ensure project execution decisions are informed by financial forecasting and that forecasted financial, and project P&L impacts are accurately reflected
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall strategic direction and success of the organization

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Project Management, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex, large-scale projects, and programs
  • 8+ years’ experience in a leadership role, with demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams, experience in the energy sector preferred
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification required; additional certifications such as PgMP (Program Management Professional), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), or Lean Six Sigma highly desirable
  • Extensive experience leading large program management efforts, including establishing effective governance structures, cross-functional coordination, and executive stakeholder management and reporting
  • Proven ability to deliver projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline, with a strong focus on strategic alignment and organizational impact
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including executive leadership
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to foster collaboration across diverse teams and external partners
  • Advanced proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, Trello) and enterprise tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence)
  • Deep knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall, with the ability to implement and scale these methodologies across an organization
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving business outcomes and continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of projects and programs simultaneously, with a high tolerance for ambiguity and pressure
  • Demonstrated leadership, adaptability, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics
  • Self-motivated, with a high sense of accountability, urgency, and drive
