The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist is the primary point of contact to ensure compliance with government regulations in accordance with Customs and Border Protection, Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and other partnering governmental agencies. This position is the focal point for managing imports for Powin’s diverse and globally distributed manufacturing supply network. This network includes offshore Powin owned manufacturing assets, and several outsource manufacturing companies.

Job Details:

  • Support the trade compliance team with product classification to include Harmonized Tariff Schedule
  • Knowledge, interpretation, and application of Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations (US Customs Regulations)
  • Review Anti-dumping (ADD) and Counter Vailing Duties (CVC) for application
  • Assist in the development and execution of trade compliance policies, procedures, and controls
  • Monitor and communicate changes in trade compliance regulations and standards to relevant stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal Logistics, Purchasing SIOP, and Engineering teams, as well as 3PL providers and customs brokers
  • Support the development and implementation of corrective action for non-compliance to Powin’s international shipping procedures
  • Collaborate with relevant teams on developing and executing post audit import and export documentation and government filings
  • Maintain record keeping and program documentation as required by Customs authorities
  • Identify reporting requirements and ensures accurate and timely submission
  • Perform regular denied parties list screenings
  • Review international orders and shipments and provides guidance, as necessary to ensure conformity to exporting requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Licensed Customs Broker or equivalent experience
  • Certified US Export Compliance Officer, Certified Export Specialist (CES) or equivalent
  • 6-8 years’ work experience in global trade
  • Experience in Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), parts classification, and Schedule B – Export Commodity Control Number (ECCN) determination
  • Experience with dangerous goods (hazmat) regulations, including DOT, IATA, and IMDG
  • Strong experience in building new relationships that drive cross-functional process improvements
  • Ability to demonstrate problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficient in NetSuite and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Familiarity with trade compliance software and tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic, and ability to follow up and follow-through on outstanding items
  • Ability to take initiative to complete tasks with accountability and ownership
  • Solid organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed
  • Limited travel requirements
