Summary:

The Systems Compliance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all operational systems and processes comply with relevant regulatory standards and internal policies. This position provides support in the compliance of the projects in across sales, design, development, and maintenance of Powin’s Battery Energy Storage Systems (ESS). This role involves working closely with various departments to ensure product compliance, implement best practices and corrective actions.

Job Duties:

  • Drive various project site compliance activities and determine the applicable standards for the project
  • Participate as the Project Team expert to generate requirements for our product to meet various certifications needs
  • Manage compliance activities with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL) and other consultants for projects
  • Prepare compliance related documentation and compilation of the product certificates and test reports
  • Perform tests and test plans for new or non-standard applications required for meeting compliance requirements
  • Participate in specification and design reviews to ensure designs will meet necessary certification requirements
  • Provide support to internal teams on compliance related activities
  • Ability to solve problems independently, manage, and properly delegate the workload of multiple projects and tasks
  • Communicate projects status and risks to leadership and partner with other departments to support weekly project schedules
  • Participate in the field to support and train the field personnel on our compliance processes
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical degree or Renewable Engineering degree
  • 5-7 years of experience in systems operations, compliance, or related field
  • Electrical and functional safety certification experience preferred
  • Experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) for reviewing designs to ensure compliance
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer and client service skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support international teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written and oral communication with the ability to adapt style and communications to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Effective presentation skills required, both in the creation and delivery of presentation materials
  • Ability and willingness to manage work with multiples time zones and open for travel, both domestic and international up to 40%
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations, including but not limited to:
  • UL standards for energy storage systems (e.g., UL 9540, UL 1973)
  • IEC standards (e.g., IEC 62619, IEC 62933)
  • IEEE standards (e.g., IEEE 1547)
  • NFPA codes (e.g., NFPA 855)
  • NEC compliance (NEC 70E)
  • OSHA regulations
  • NERC standards
  • And relevant regional and local standards and regulations related to energy storage systems and renewable energy

Compensation for this position is commensurate with location, experience and relevant skills. The national Average Base Salary Range is $95,000 – $128,000. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and personal performance.
