Summary:

The Director of Product Management, Hardware will lead a team of product owners with strong engineering backgrounds, driving technical excellence and innovation in energy storage solutions. This role is responsible for owning and developing a product roadmap that is primarily focused on hardware, with strong integration into software, systems, and firmware solutions to ensure a seamless ecosystem that meets customer needs and anticipates future market opportunities. The emphasis is on delivering hardware-driven solutions that serve as the backbone for Powin’s energy storage systems.

Job Details:

  • Understand market trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape within the energy storage hardware industry.
  • Engage with customers to gather insights, validate product concepts, and ensure hardware products meet market demands, can be installed and supported, and address regional variations.
  • Define, communicate, and maintain Powin’s hardware product vision, hardware product roadmap, and strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives, while ensuring software and systems integration as needed.
  • Collaborate with necessary stakeholders to align hardware product strategy with overall company strategy, ensuring the primary focus remains on hardware solutions, while supporting software and system-level integration where necessary.
  • Work closely with partners and system integrators to deliver comprehensive hardware solutions, ensuring seamless collaboration with software, firmware, and systems where required.
  • Represent the product team in executive functions as the technical expert on Powin hardware solutions.
  • Ensure product requirements are compliant with all relevant regulations and standards, both globally and regionally, to ensure products meet local requirements and certifications.
  • Ensure seamless integration of hardware products with other systems and platforms, providing a cohesive customer experience.
  • Implement best-in-class product management processes and tools to streamline hardware development and delivery.
  • Collaborate with program management to ensure hardware projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure hardware product performance and drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with support teams to ensure seamless hardware product launches and maximize business impact.
  • Monitor and analyze hardware product performance post-launch, identifying areas for improvement and driving continuous enhancements.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, marketing, projects, sales, and customer support teams, driving alignment and support for hardware product initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of hardware product managers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and develop a high-performing product management team, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Establish clear goals, roles, and responsibilities within the team, ensuring accountability and professional growth.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or equivalent education and work experience.
  • 7+ years of hardware product management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep technical experience in providing evidence-based analysis for product hardware decisions, including lifetime analysis and Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Deep technical knowledge of li-ion batteries, grid-scale energy storage, and hardware system integration within the industry.
  • Effectively engages with senior executive stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of successfully bringing complex hardware products to market.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with product development methodologies and tools.
  • Proven experience working with partners, system integrators, and managing integrated hardware solutions.
  • Experience in developing scalable, safe, reliable, and compliant hardware solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MA/MS)

Compensation for this position is commensurate with location, experience and relevant skills. The national Average Base Salary Range is $172,000 – $246,000. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and personal performance.
