Summary:

The mission of Powin’s Data team is to use data and analytics to enhance operational effectiveness, promote strategic decision-making, and improve asset performance. On behalf of our stakeholders, we build and maintain data products that provide performance analysis, optimization, anomaly detection, and battery state estimation. Our work is heavily cross-functional, relying on close collaboration between data scientists, software developers, product owners, data engineers, and battery experts. As a Senior Data Engineer you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and optimizing data pipelines to support the ingestion, processing, and analysis of large datasets, driving actionable insights, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Job Details:

  • Design and build scalable and reliable data pipelines using Databricks and Spark, ensuring efficient data ingestion, processing, and distribution
  • Implement and manage streaming data processes with Kafka for real-time data analysis and decision-making
  • Develop and optimize data models to support the analytical and operational needs of the business, ensuring data integrity and accessibility
  • Leverage CI/CD practices in data pipeline development, deployment, and maintenance to improve automation and reduce manual efforts
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and python developers to understand data needs, providing technical leadership in the design and delivery of data solutions
  • Advocate for and implement best practices in data security, quality, and governance to ensure compliance and protect sensitive information
  • Lead and mentor junior team members on data engineering, software development, and other associated work
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least five years of relevant experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on Databricks, Spark, and Kafka
  • MA/MS degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Proficiency in data modeling, ETL design, and implementation, with a deep understanding of data warehousing principles
  • Solid experience with CI/CD tools and practices, and the ability to integrate data processes into automated pipelines
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Scala
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and understanding of how to leverage them for data engineering solutions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to break a large and complex project into discrete components, and coordinate the effective execution of each component while meeting deadlines
  • Experience coordinating large projects and mentoring junior team members
  • Strong communication skills, including an ability to effectively engage and collaborate with technical and non-technical teams across engineering, sales, and operations
  • Background in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support international teams
  • Limited travel requirements
