Summary:

The Commissioning Engineer role plays a crucial role in ensuring that systems and components are properly installed, tested, and ready for operation. This role involves working closely with project teams, clients, and various stakeholders to commission and optimize systems, ensuring the successful fulfillment of contract deliverables for the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Job Details:

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop commissioning plan
  • Participate in project design reviews to provide input on commissioning requirements
  • Set up system operation environment, configure EMS/HMI and enclosure related equipment, network devices
  • Provide resolution to field issues; keep track of field issues and work closely with engineering and QC team to provide on-site feedback in a timely manner
  • Provide technical support to field team and ASPs
  • Perform BESS system commissioning; examine/inspect conditions, identify issues and errors, and run contractual capacity test, performance test and operational test.
  • Work with PCS, Meter other 3rd party equipment providers on equipment commissioning
  • Prepare the commissioning reports and test reports
  • Work with system operation team inside division to fix protentional issues
  • Provide field feedback to software team and work with them to reproduce issues to improve system performance and stability
  • Drive the projects from commission to COD, assist with managing schedules, including preparation of detailed commissioning schedules, and ensuring all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled milestone date
  • Attend and actively participate in project meetings, including contractor and subcontractor meetings
  • Participate in identifying continuous improvement opportunities in the commissioning process
  • Ensure that all commissioning activities adhere to safety protocols and industry standards
  • Conduct safety reviews and risk assessments
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or real-world experience in commissioning of utility scale energy infrastructure.
  • 5+ years’ experience in related field, such as utility construction, commissioning, performance testing, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with commissioning software and tools; experience with Linux and Python preferred
  • Proven excellence in leading matrix teams for successful delivery of complex projects related to energy infrastructure or related field
  • Service experience desirable, (turnarounds, recommissioning, performance testing, troubleshooting, startup, and shutdowns) in time compressed environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
