Summary:

The Battery Systems Engineer will drive project site technical activities and provide support in the design, development, and maintenance of Powin’s Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This position will provide support on project requirements and various tools to elevate and streamline processes for the project success team. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects fulfill customer functionality, contract requirements to provide system solutions and support the customer experience through the entire customer lifecycle.

Job Details:

  • Drive various project site technical activities and support the field and commissioning teams with engineering drawings, documents, and work instructions
  • Monitor system performance and ensure reliable and efficient operation of Battery Management System (BMS), Energy Management System (EMS), TMS and potentially Fire Safety Systems (FSS)
  • Identify and address potential issues to minimize downtime and optimize system functionality
  • Participate in design engineering and of the product specification updates and identify improvements in design and implementation
  • Conduct tests and develop test plans for new or non-standard applications, ensuring compatibility and performance
  • Perform ongoing analyses of the Battery Management hardware and participate in the root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Collaborate and provide support to various teams to ensure seamless project execution
  • Participate in EMS/BMS designs of the product and the various components ensuring integration and functionality alignment
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and management with actionable insights
  • Participate in field activities to support and train personnel on using tools to help commission our product
  • Create reports and evaluations for product failures, and monitor them using internal tools
  • Recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency and project outcomes
  • Troubleshoot and ensure compliance with Fire Safety Systems (FSS) requirements and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering or related technical degree
  • 5+ years’ experience with supporting technical projects on documentation, deliverables, contract requirements, training to internal and external customers
  • At least 1 year of Hardware knowledge of Battery Management system (BMS) and Energy Management System (EMS) systems
  • Experience with SCADA, Modbus, and networking applications
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, and data analysis skills preferred
  • Ability to interpret and create system designs, single lines and block diagrams using AutoCAD, Visio/Smart Draw, Solidworks, and Altium
  • Experience with mechanical manufacturing processes are a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to muti task
  • Excellent written and oral communication with the ability to adapt style and communications to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Effective presentation skills required, both in the creation and delivery of presentation materials
  • Ability and willingness to manage work with multiples time zones and travel, both domestic and international up to 40%
