Position Summary
The Academic Testing Services Coordinator plays a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of Academic Testing Services (ATS) at Portland State University (PSU) in support of the Assistant Director of Academic Testing Services and the ATS team. This position is responsible for ensuring that all students who test with ATS have an equitable and timely opportunity to take their exams, and that those with Disability Resource Center (DRC) testing accommodations are able to utilize those. The coordinator will work closely with students, faculty, academic departments, the Disability Resource Center (DRC), and other departments and partners on campus to facilitate a smooth testing experience for all parties involved.

Successful Candidates

  • Will have the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Will be proficient in both written and verbal communication essential for interacting with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Will have the capability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Will have familiarity with the administration and coordination of various exams, including scheduling, securing facilities, and ensuring ADA compliance with testing standards.
  • Will have knowledge of managing and maintaining databases related to testing records.
  • Will understand policies and procedures related to academic testing and placement.
  • Will have the ability to analyze and address moderately complex issues related to testing services, using experience and expertise to anticipate needs and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Will have competence in using computer systems and software.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree with 2+ years of related experience, or masters degree with 1+ year of related experience
  • Knowledge of and experience within a higher education setting
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in utilizing email, online forms, spreadsheets, word processing applications, databases, and other software to manage operations
  • Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in education or a related field with 3-5 years of experience
  • In-depth understanding of ADA compliance and Section 504 as they relate to students in higher education
  • Experience managing projects through to completion
  • Background in consulting, educating, and/or training groups

Work Days/Hours
Monday through Friday, 8a.m. to 5p.m.
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.

The starting annual salary for this position will be $54,684 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
