Director of Construction (Utility-Scale)

$175,000 – $200,000

On-site 5 days per week – Washington, DC

Travel to Site Required

Piper Maddox is partnered with a Global Independent Power Producer on the search for a Director of Construction with Utility-Scale Solar Experience above 50MW+. The ideal candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, operational oversight, and team leadership to ensure successful project execution and adherence to company standards.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Direction and Operations: Plan and direct day-to-day operations and strategic direction of utility-scale solar construction programs.
  • Policy and Procedure Development: Contribute to creating and maintaining best-in-class policies and procedures.
  • Supply Chain Management: Establish and maintain effective relationships within the supply chain.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and develop a team of professionals across multiple projects.
  • Project Oversight: Provide guidance and project leadership to ensure projects meet or exceed company expectations.
  • Vendor Management: Direct external vendors including General Contractors, design teams, and suppliers.
  • Relationship Management: Establish and maintain high-value relationships critical to project success.
  • Contract Administration: Develop and execute effective contract administration procedures, including contract generation, review, and monitoring.
  • Project Team Leadership: Lead project teams including Project Managers, Site Superintendents, and Subcontractors.
  • Project Lifecycle Management: Manage all aspects of construction projects from pre-construction through to project close-out.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Construction Management or related field preferred; relevant experience considered in lieu of education.
  • 7+ years of experience in Solar Construction.
  • PMP or other project management certification preferred.
