Your Impact
Pearce Services seeks a skilled OSP Engineer who is responsible for Wire Center BAU Engineering within the Texas Dallas-Metroplex Market. The position requires a working-level knowledge of OSP engineering, including OSP Design for fiber and copper networks, all classes of Plant and interacting with municipalities and permitting
Core Responsibilities
- Field/Design OSP BAU work orders will include service orders, sub-divisions, road move projects, dark fiber MDU, copper/fiber, aerial/buried/underground work, and permitting. Updates to Frogs (CAD). Varasset updates.
- Project Management
- Coordinate project design/implementation with Communication planning, right-of-way, construction, and central office teams.
- Prepare cost estimates for installation, rearrangement, or removal of outside plant facilities.
- Meet and communicate with Developers at construction sites, customers, etc.
- Local travel may be required. Pearce to reimburse mileage expense.
- Capable of managing their workload and prioritizing multiple field engineering assignments
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
- Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn new technical systems and tools
Core Experience
- 3-5+ years of experience in copper and fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom engineering and design
- Knowledge of outside plant activities (copper and fiber cable design; aerial/pole line, buried and underground design)
- Proven ability to read and understand DOT schematics, identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, and select routing of lines and equipment required for projects
- Knowledge permitting with state and local municipalities
- Familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, and shapefile functionality
- Ability to resolve problems following standard practices, using judgment within defined policies and guidelines
- Knowledge of general city, county, state, and road move design application processes is preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be able to do sight visits
Optional:
- Experience with Frontier systems knowledge: Frogs, Varasset, Infinium
- OSP Telecom Construction experience
Compensation: $38.50 hourly
