Your Impact

Pearce Services seeks a skilled OSP Engineer to Design/Permit Service Wires who is responsible for the Design and Permitting of FTTH Service Drops and transition to the Buried Plant. This position is responsible for conflict identification and conflict resolution associated with Frontier Projects within the Texas Market and designing and creating/submitting permits. The position requires a working-level knowledge of OSP engineering, including OSP Design for fiber and copper networks, interacting with municipalities, and permitting. Local travel is required.

Core Responsibilities

  • Draw up and follow the permitting process.
  • Field/Design OSP Engineer work orders to include projects, aerial work, and permitting.
  • Work with the state/local/federal DOT and the various utilities to plan the necessary telecom relocation plan. This involves working with DOT schematics, visiting the “field,” documenting the current telecom facilities, and designing the “solution” plan in concert with the DOT plans.
  • Coordinate project design/implementation with Communication planning, right-of-way, construction, and central office teams.
  • Prepare cost estimates for installation, rearrangement, or removal of outside plant facilities.
  • Work with Frontier OSP Planning, Construction, and Project Management, as needed.
  • Meet and communicate with Developers at construction sites, customers, etc.
  • Capable of managing their workload and prioritizing multiple field engineering assignments
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to visit the site in Sulphur Springs, TX

Core Experience

  • 3-5+ years of experience in copper and fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom engineering and design OSP Engineer projects.
  • Experience with the permitting process for brownfield and greenfield projects
  • Knowledge of outside plant activities (copper and fiber cable design; aerial/pole line, buried and underground design/construction)
  • Proven ability to read and understand DOT schematics, identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities and select routing of lines and equipment required for projects
  • Knowledge permitting with state and local municipalities
  • Familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, and shapefile functionality
  • Knowledge of general city, county, state, and municipality permitting process
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Optional:

  • Experience with Frontier systems knowledge: Frogs, Varasset, Infinium
  • OSP Telecom Construction experience

Compensation: $38.00 hourly
