Responsibilities:

Job Purpose
The Solar Performance Engineer reports directly to the SVP of Customer Service and provides engineering support in the solar monitoring function to advocate for the improvement of system performance for our customers. This position has a combination of both tactical responsibilities monitoring over 600 solar systems in the service portfolio as well as strategic responsibilities helping to improve the efficiency of the monitoring process to scale our business.This is a full-time position out of our Hopkinton, MA office. The ideal candidate will be driven, independent, organized and able to multitask while having the ability to stay cool under pressure. A successful candidate will have a passion for the solar industry and the desire to help propel a fast-growing solar service business to higher levels. This role will be part of a team of dedicated professionals that work tirelessly to maximize the production of clean energy for our clients and our world.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate the daily system portfolio reports to identify equipment issues that require remediation to optimize solar production. Work with team members to determine the best course of action and establish a Case for remediation.
  • Conduct deep dive monitoring of systems that are not meeting performance expectations.
  • Member of a cross functional team to assist in the resolution of the most impactful system issues in the service portfolio.
  • Provide feedback to Solect Engineering on design issues that will improve future system designs for the company.
  • Recommend the prioritization of Cases to be scheduled based on the severity of the issue.
  • Provide monitoring services for the detection of system issues within Solect’s Service Portfolio (650+ systems).
  • Communicate with Service Dispatchers issue(s) that were detected with a system and the probable cause or area of the system a technician would be directed to. This diagnosis before dispatching will save time for the technicians to find issues when they are on site.
  • Establish and maintain procedures for onboarding installed-base and off-base customers into internal systems
  • Provide support in the advancement of Solects performance reporting infrastructure
  • Assist with power output verification procedures for retained Solect projects.
  • Provide operational support of Professional Service customer requests

Qualifications:

Desired Skills & Experience

  • BS in environmental science, engineering, or similar field of study.
  • 2+ years of solar / battery industry experience
  • 2+ years of analytical experience within O&M or asset management
  • Knowledge of PV O&M business operations a plus
  • Strong technical knowledge of DAS and SCADA operations a plus
  • Advanced Excel technical knowledge
  • Knowledge of Salesforce a plus

The expected starting pay range for this role is $80,000 – $100,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education.
