Responsibilities:

Job Purpose
The Manager, Trade Control will be a key member of the companys Middle Office function that provides risk management expertise for the companys Energy Management activities in the wholesale power and renewables markets in USA and Canada.

Key Accountabilities
  • Monitoring of the companys Energy Management activities for compliance with the Companys trading policies, limits and internal controls
  • Daily reporting and analysis of key metrics such as P&L, net position and Value at Risk (VaR) to the trading, finance and management teams
  • Maintain and develop the companys energy risk management policies, processes, and procedures
  • Monitor and verify trades, positions and prices captured within the companys Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) system (Allegro Horizon)
  • Complete daily and monthly reconciliation processes in conjunction with the Front Office and Back Office functions
  • Take part in development and implementation projects, for example to further improve and automate the companys internal controls, metrics and technology systems
  • Daily monitoring and management of collateral posted with the ICE futures exchange and ISOs (e.g. ERCOT, CAISO)
  • Assist with the contracting and confirmation process for ISDA and EEI master agreements for bilateral sales of power and Renewables Attributes (RECs, carbon offsets, etc.)

Qualifications:

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

Bachelors degree in Finance, Mathematics/Statistics, Business, Economics or similar commercial or quantitative subject. 4 years relevant experience in commodity risk management, compliance or trading.

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge of US power or natural gas markets; knowledge of market operations for renewables in ERCOT and CAISO is highly desirable
  • Prior experience in using ETRM systems such as Allegro Horizon, OpenLink or Aligne
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Expert level of numerical and analytical skills to investigate and understand daily movements in risk management metrics and reports
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention for detail
  • This position requires an enthusiastic and collaborative teammate who is motivated by the daily challenges of working in a fast-paced, complex and often-changing commercial environment. We are seeking someone who asks questions and wants to continue to acquire knowledge and skills in this high-profile and growing function within Pattern Energy.

The expected starting pay range for this role is $103,000 USD – $139,000 in local currency. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Patterns compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
