Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The Green Fuels Project Diretor will ultimately lead the green fuels execution component of green fuels developments/projects in the US and/or Canada. Primary focus includes working as a partner with the preconstruction lead, risk management/mitigation, contract negotiations, cost/pricing verification, execution planning, resourcing needs, constructability reviews, and an in-depth understanding of the technical engineering of the facility. The Green Fuels Project Director will play a pivotal role in collaborating with the preconstruction and development teams. Ensuring the development and design are optimized, and constructable and ensuring the right project partners are contracted. This role will be the primary lead in contract negotiations and ensuring Pattern’s risks are understood, quantified, and mitigated. These efforts are geared towards ensuring the project is flawlessly executed on time, on budget, high quality, and safe.
The Green Fuels Project Director will report to the Vice President of Construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the construction and execution of the green fuels component of the project to ensure the project is delivered on time, and within budget, maintaining the highest quality standards and ensuring a safe project site and safety culture.
- Ensure the seamless transition between the preconstruction/development and the green fuels project execution team.
- Support the Request for Proposal (RPF) process lead by preconstruction, ensure they are reviewing all RFP documents, exhibits, and design to ensure we are selecting the right EPC contractor.
- Create and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
- Lead direct reports as well as oversight of any 3rd party construction management firms that are part of the project.
- Lead the definition of contracting and execution strategy, TIC estimates and master scheduling, negotiation of Engineering Procurement Construction (M) and engineering/consulting contracts; support negotiations of the Supply, Offtake or other type of contracts

Education/Experience/Qualifications Required
Educational Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field
Qualifications
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in engineering, project management, and constructing large-scale chemical/fuels energy projects (Hydrogen, Ammonia, Methanol, LNG, Refining)
- Successful execution of projects from a safety, quality, cost and schedule standpoint and also educating others in the department of the unique aspects of construction.
- Construction management and field experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledgeable in contract management, negotiation strategies, risk and opportunity management.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Self-starter, and naturally motivated to work hard and accomplish goals.
- Ability to prioritize and resolve multiple issues on multiple projects under demanding schedule constraints.
- Through understanding of construction contact concepts, language, and terms.
Additional Qualifications
- Strong technical capabilities and a creative, curious, self-driven work ethic
- Ability to work well in and/or lead cross functional teams with little supervision or oversight
- Ability to travel within the US and Canada to and from project sites, meetings, training sessions or other business-related events (+50% travel)
Technical Skills
- Facility with typical computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint).
- Scheduling application experience a plus (MS Project, Primavera).
The expected starting pay range for this role is $149,000 – $201,070 in local currency. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
