This position is based in Charleston

Summary of Role

The BTR/SFR Designer will work closely with sales to create proposals, designs, and project manage BTR/SFR projects at Palmetto Finance. This position will also play an active role in continually improving Palmetto’s product and service offerings, via process improvements and the utilization of new technology.

The role will also support stranded assets in the event that designs or permitting need to be revised or recreated.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Onboarding and managing PSS vendor
  • Ability to read construction drawings and produce preliminary designs and production values
  • Complete electrical and structural designs for residential Solar and Battery Storage projects
  • Remain current on install material and methods, product trainings and integration of new products
  • Identify, onboard, and manage 3rd party vendors
  • Creating APL (approved product list) based on financial structures per contract
  • AHJ research and/or registration
  • Coordinate with local jurisdictions and utilities to confirm compliance with applicable codes and ensure plan sets meet permitting and interconnection standards for approval
  • Maintaining the BOM calculator
  • Communicate and coordinate any change orders
  • Maintaining data fidelity within our CRM

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2 years of solar and battery design experience required OR Associate’s degree in design related field and 3 years of solar and battery design experience required or NABCEP (PV Installation Professional) certification and 2 years of solar and battery design experience required
  • Proficient knowledge of the National Electric Code required
  • Proficient knowledge of residential construction techniques required
  • Basic knowledge in drafting and AutoCAD Software required
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer service skills with ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Excellent computing skills, including MS and Google applications, CRM and ERP systems
  • Willingness to travel as required
