Department Description

Palmetto Finance is a branch of Palmetto focused on the democratization of the renewable energy industry. We provide homeowners with financial products to benefit from solar power, home efficiency products, and energy storage systems. We empower solar sales professionals and solar installation companies with access to our proprietary platform, financing, customer management system, and milestone submission system. Location

This position will be based in the Charlotte, NC or Charleston, SC office.

Summary of Role:

The Stranded Asset Project Manager role was built to help Palmetto Finance “step in” for EPC that have active project pipelines that they no longer can fulfill (bankrupt, offboarded, etc). This role is responsible for helping drive incomplete LightReach projects from NTP to System Activation. The primary objective is to save as many projects as possible through creative problem solving and partnership with Palmetto Energy and other active LightReach EPC partners. The role will need to harness expertise across engineering, utility, permitting, install and inspection to accomplish the objective. When required, the project manager will need to communicate directly with escalated customers and help re-establish confidence in their solar project. In addition to these project management responsibilities this role is expected to flex and support milestone quality reviews on an as needed basis.

Success Defined:

  • Convert 90% of pre PTO project pipelines to PTO (% subject to change by EPC situation)
  • Each portfolio of projects to have timeline expectations set

Strategic/Tactical Responsibilities:

  • Review incomplete project information and establish a plan to get back on track
  • Partner with trusted EPCs (including Palmetto Energy) to help facilitate project actions and submittals (permit, utility, install, inspection)
  • Influence EPC partners accountable for their project execution
  • Directly oversee and manage projects from NTP to System Activation
  • Partner with customer leads to ensure customers are clear on project next steps and do not cancel
  • Communicate with stakeholders, delivering regular updates on project progress, milestones, addressing concerns, and ensuring alignment with overall project goals
  • Collaborate with Design & Engineering, Permitting, Utility, QA, and Inspections teams as needed to execute on objectives
  • Resolve (directly or indirectly) escalated customer issues
  • Oversee project data logging in the CRM
  • Thoroughly document project specifications, progress, and key milestones; ensure comprehensive and organized records to facilitate transparent communication, knowledge transfer, and future reference
  • Review project milestone deliverables for quality and completeness
  • Provide clear and concise kickback reasoning for rejected packages
  • Remain current on install material and methods, product trainings and integration of new products

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related fields such as Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy
  • PMP or PMI certifications preferred
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience managing solar projects to completion; solar operations experience is required
  • Experience with interdepartmental problem solving and proven ability to identify issues and implement solutions to drive projects towards timely completion
  • Knowledge of solar regulatory requirements and compliance issues, and able to navigate and resolve matters accordingly
  • Experience in photovoltaic design preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work with and influence 3rd parties and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience with standard business tools such as G-Suite, CRMs, etc.
