About the Company:
Our client is seeking an experienced Manager/Sr. Manager of Execution Engineering to lead the design and engineering of large, utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects in late-stage development, execution, construction, and operation. This role is key in supporting project execution by overseeing the technical design and development of renewable energy projects. Responsibilities include quality assurance, compliance, cross-functional collaboration, risk management, problem-solving, leadership, and mentorship. The Manager/Sr. Manager, Execution Engineering will report directly to the Director of Engineering in an individual contributor capacity.
Location: Salt Lake City (UT), Portland (OR) or Irvine (CA).
Responsibilities:
- Develop scopes of work and technical contract exhibits
- Manage engineering consultants and EPC contractors to develop construction drawings
- Oversee technical project due diligence and design reviews
- Support EPC Contractor RFP and selection process
- Value-engineer PV and BESS designs to maximize reliability and reduce costs
- Manage technical aspects of project acquisitions and due diligence
- Respond to contractor RFIs, perform QA/QC checks, develop punch lists
- Support commissioning, project financing, and technical diligence
- Assist teams with budget, schedule inputs, and site visits as needed
Growth & Leadership
- Lead process improvement initiatives
- Mentor team on technology trends, best practices, and safety
- Act as technical subject matter expert
- Review emerging technologies and vendors for Approved Vendor List
- Communicate plans with senior leadership via PowerPoint
- Attend site safety walks and identify hazards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required); graduate degree (preferred)
- Professional Engineering license (strongly preferred)
- 4+ years (Manager) or 7+ years (Sr. Manager) in energy system design, project development, construction, project management, or consulting
- Experience in electrical design, stormwater/grading, medium voltage collector system design
- Proficient in MS Office, Procore or similar platforms
- Safety training certifications (OSHA, CPR/first aid)
- Ability to travel 25%
