Lithium-Ion Battery Development Engineers (Design, Product Creation and Testing)
We’re seeking dynamic Lithium-Ion Battery Development Engineers to join our team and contribute as key individual contributors for a cutting-edge R&D project. Be a part of an innovation task force within a leading, global automotive company, leading the creation, design, and testing of an R&D battery system.
Ideal candidates will have expertise in developing and optimizing lithium-ion batteries for various applications, with a focus on ensuring high performance, reliability, and safety. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to bring battery products from concept through to production.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of lithium-ion battery systems, including cell selection, module design, and battery management systems (BMS).
- Develop and execute testing protocols to ensure battery safety, performance, and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to integrate battery systems into larger product architectures.
- Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations for battery issues, implementing design improvements as needed.
- Optimize battery pack designs for thermal management, power output, and longevity.
- Participate in product development cycles from concept to production, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
- Maintain awareness of industry advancements in battery technology and implement innovative solutions where applicable.
Required Skillset:
- 6+ years of experience in lithium-ion battery design and development.
- Expertise in battery chemistry, cell/module design, and testing protocols.
- Proficiency in CAD software for battery design and system modeling.
- Strong understanding of battery safety standards and regulations (e.g., UL, IEC, etc.).
- Experience with battery management systems (BMS) and thermal management strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Bonus Skillset:
- Experience in the automotive, aerospace, or energy storage industries.
- Familiarity with battery testing equipment and procedures.
- Knowledge of emerging battery technologies and market trends.

Pay Rate: $70-90/hr. DOE
