Job Description


On.Energy is looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Head of Engineering, North America to join our team at our US Headquarters office in Miami, FL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design, implementation, and commissioning of power generation and storage systems, knowledge of electrical codes and standards, systems design, grid interconnection processes, and project management abilities. The ideal candidate shall have excellent communication and team management skills, be results-oriented, have a focus on problem-solving, and have a culture of collaboration and team player.
  • Lead the development of designs & engineering of energy solutions focused on energy storage and renewable energy.
  • Supervise the generation of SLDs, 3-line diagrams, general arrangements, power load flow studies, communication and controls architectures, and engineering studies according to industry standards.
  • Prepare and update electrical design packages, including protection schemes, relay settings, UPS & Emergency Power Systems, wiring diagrams, equipment sizing and specifications, and equipment layouts.
  • Manage the interconnection process for transmission/distribution utility-scale and behind-the-meter generators, solar PV, and energy storage.
  • Prepare Requests for Proposals, Requests for Information, and manage the flow of information throughout the team and engineering process.
  • Manage internal technical team members, external consultants, owners, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors for equipment and technology selection, system implementation, and commissioning.
  • Lead the development of DFMEAs, FATs, and SATs involving internal teams, vendors, and external parties.
  • Get up to date with codes, regulations, and standards regarding electrical installations in LV, MV, and HV, energy storage design and installation, renewable energy, and power systems.
  • Originate, optimize, and automate internal processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Management preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical design, implementation, and commissioning experience in power generation, storage, and distribution systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards such as CSA, NFPA, NEC, and UL.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Some level of Spanish is preferred.
  • Availability to travel is preferred.
