Job Description

Nonprofit Project Manager

The nonprofit OC Goes Solar has a job opening for a Project Manager to become an integral part of our team! OCGS started more than 7 years ago with a goal of simplifying the process of going solar for our community members. Since then, we’ve helped hundreds of people benefit from installing rooftop solar. We work every day to making clean energy more accessible, affordable, and equitable for everyone.

Among other projects, OCGS manage the City of Irvines Solarize Irvine program, a rooftop solar promotion campaign, and partner with the California PUC SOMAH program to put solar on multifamily affordable housing.

A person with substantive experience working in nonprofits, government, or the like in support of community outreach and project management would be ideal. That said, we welcome candidates of diverse backgrounds and experience to apply. A belief in our mission to make clean energy accessible and affordable to all, creative passion, people skills, and willingness to learn are more important than experience.

Principal Roles and Responsibilities:

As a Solarize Irvine Program Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Organize and engage with a diverse stakeholder to rapidly expand our community outreach efforts throughout Irvine.
  • Direct, coordinate, implement, execute, control and complete project, while remaining aligned with strategy, mission, and goals of the organization.
  • Create project plan, administer everyday workflow of all implementation processes, and provide support to all team members.
  • Produce accurate metrics and timely reports of program status throughout its life cycle.
  • Work directly with program partners and provide quarterly program reports.
  • Analyze program risks and working on a strategy with the core team members.
  • Create and managing long-term goals.
  • Develop a budget and operating plan for the program.
  • Develop an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are passionate about expanding access to clean energy for all. Forward-thinking, innovative approaches and comfortable working with diverse community members.

  • Proven track record of accomplishments working as a Project Manager with multiple projects, as well as collaborating with internal teams and support partner organizations.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience (professional or volunteer) with community organizing and project management.
  • Ability to plan and execute presentations and in-person educational and topic-related events.
  • Provide technical assistance to individuals and entities interested in going solar.
  • Knowledge of solar energy, and / or environmental issues.
  • Assist in strategic development and planning for long-term program evolution.
  • Motivation to accomplish objectives to achieve project goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability or related fields from an accredited program.
  • Strong project management skills and leadership qualities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative working style.
  • Cultural competency with the ability to work with diverse and marginalized communities.
  • Strong presentation skills and working knowledge of G-suite, Data Visualization tools, and Social Media marketing. Experience with Sales Force and website editing is a plus.
