Basic Job Functions:
The Energy and Regulatory Affairs Principal must be a strategic, proactive advocate with a proven track record of understanding and articulating complicated policy issues before various energy regulatory bodies of government. This role will be a full-time position. The responsiibilities of this role includes but is not limited to:
- Responsible for policy development and advocacy.
- Identify and access emerging energy related issues and help develop data, strategy and messages related to issues that are critical to the company’s success in long term clean
energy procurement.
- Responsible for developing findings and recommendations by working collaboratively with the company’s business units to execute a successful strategy.
- Establish relationships with State Senate and House Members, Governors and their respective staffs.
- Experience in the energy legislative and regulatory process and a familiarity with steel and energy policy issues, and/or navigating ESG policy issues in coordination with Legal and
Investor Relations functions in a publicly traded company is a plus.
- Experience in energy contracting origination is preferred.
- Analyzing and supporting the preparation of regulatory and legislative proposals related to energy issues.
- Identifying and researching new utility business models, electrification challenges, and natural gas decarbonization issues.
- Work regularly with senior executives throughout the company to develop a sound legislative strategy in line with the company’s objectives around energy policy.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Prior corporate Government Affairs experience, state, congressional or executive branch experience is desirable
- Be able to travel up to 50% of the time or as needed to support projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- A thorough understanding of the energy procurement market space.
- Ability to due diligence emerging energy technologies.
- An understanding of the various energy markets and prior experience with investor owned utilities, independent power producers and electric cooperatives.
