Basic Job Functions

The Supply Chain Buyer is responsible for managing all purchase requests and other buyer duties including, but not limited to:

  • Executing the NovaSource sourcing and procurement strategies, tools, and processes in a standardized way.
  • Implement Lean Methodologies to identify and eliminate all waste and ensure that the team is operating in the most efficient way possible.
  • Ensures that all procurement requests handled by the team follow the NovaSource purchasing guidelines and that the ERP system is updated as needed.
  • Partner with the relevant Procurement /Sourcing Manager as needed to help ensure vendor and inventory optimization.
  • Conduct business dealings with the highest level of integrity and regard for legal and environmental issues.
  • Resolves discrepancies (Deliveries, Pricing, System Transactions) and escalates issues to the appropriate Procurement / Sourcing Manager as needed.
  • Responsible for timely updating material and service order status to internal stakeholders throughout the full procure-to pay lifecycle.
  • Manages all distributor and e-commerce relationships, contract execution, and procurement tasks.
  • Works closely with the Procurement Manager to develop data reports and other tools to support the functions of the business.
  • Focuses on maximizing spend under contract with key suppliers, and on-time supply assurance to Operations.

  • Ensures all KPIs are met and reported on a weekly/monthly basis (see details of KPIs below).

Required Skills/Competencies

  • >10 years experience as a Buyer/Commodity manager preferably in the Energy or Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing strategies and techniques.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of strategic and operational vendor management processes & concepts.
  • Strong sense of urgency. Ability to prioritize tasks consistent with the business requirements.
  • Implement sourcing decisions based on company guidelines and policies.
  • Understands and demonstrates project management skills.
  • Frequently interacts with functional peers and functional peer group managers.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Cost optimization oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Proficient in the use of ERP/Purchasing System
  • Excellent team player
  • Available to work on-site in our Chandler, AZ or Houston, TX offices.

Education

  • BS/BA degree in Supply Chain Management or a related technical, engineering, or business field.
  • Industry certification preferred (AIPICA, PMP, NCMA, ISM, etc.).
  • Lean Manufacturing certification is a plus.

  • Zero safety issues or Safety Recordables.
  • Yearly cost savings targets set and achieved.
  • PO accuracy at 100%
  • Vendor fulfillment accuracy at 100%
  • On-time delivery at 95%
