Starting salary range: $70,000-$80,000

We are a remote-first organization, which allows our employees to work in any of NEEP’s 13 states/jurisdictions in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region. The Grants Project Manager is responsible for managing NEEP’s funding proposals and grants. This includes developing funding materials such as grant proposals to foundations and federal and state agencies; researching potential funding sources and opportunities; and facilitating constructive, productive relationships with NEEP’s funders (e.g., foundations, federal and state agencies, etc.). The Grants Project Manager reports to the Executive Director and works closely and collaboratively across the organization including with NEEP’s Senior Management Team, Program Leads, Finance, Operations, the Strategic Marketing & Communications Team, and program staff.

A day in the life of this role

In this role, you’ll manage the grants process at NEEP by partnering with colleagues across the organization on proposal development, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and maintaining relationships with funders.

Prepare Funding Proposals, Requests and Reports

  • You will manage grant proposal development, working in partnership with program and administrative staff, to meet proposal requirements and deadlines, including preparing or assisting with content development and editing
  • You will oversee and review timely and responsive progress and final reports to funders that demonstrate NEEP’s value and effectiveness
  • You will ensure a smooth, effective, and impactful grant-writing and reporting process

Support New and Existing Funding Relationships

  • You will support productive relationships with NEEP funders, and you’ll track and assess federal, state, and foundation funding announcements to identify opportunities for NEEP
  • You will research new potential funders to maintain and expand NEEP’s broad and diverse funding base, and you’ll develop materials to engage funder interest
  • You will monitor funder outreach activities, timelines, and, in collaboration with colleagues, participate in relationship building, content development and reporting

Implement and Monitor NEEP’s Fundraising Plan

  • You will support NEEP’s Senior Management Team to develop compelling cases for grant support and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan
  • You will collaborate with NEEP’s external relations team to coordinate on outreach to industry allies
  • You will track metrics and monitor effectiveness of NEEP fundraising activities and recommend improvements for efficiency and effectiveness
  • You will collaborate with teams across the organization to gather necessary information for grant applications and reports.

What we need from you

  • Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, business administration, public policy, or a related field. Comparable work experience may be used in lieu of education requirement.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in grant management. Advanced degree may be used in lieu of some work experience.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing skills. Grant writing experience with proposals and reports to foundations and agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively across teams. Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience and demonstrated track record in preparation of fundraising materials and grant reports, and funder research.
  • Energetic and self-directed, with effective time management and organizational skills including the ability to deal with several priorities at the same time
  • Competency with Microsoft Office tools, web-based tools and portals, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms
  • Experience with technologies used for online collaboration, such as Slack, Zoom, Teams, etc.
  • Residency within the NEEP region (in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic).
