Job Summary
The sky is no longer the limit as Nidec takes its technology off the ground and into the Aerospace market. As a Application Engineer with the Nidec Aerospace team, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to design electric propulsion systems for the battery-powered aircrafts that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B.

Job Description

Overall, the role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication with suppliers and customers alike.
Responsibilities include:

Assist in the design and development of custom inverter solutions to meet customer specifications.

Provide online and in-person technical support regarding inverter specification, application, and integration for inverters deployed in operation.

Analyze test data and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product improvement and optimization.

Lead Root Cause Analysis related to in-field products providing timely resolutions and support.
-
Participate in customer meetings, presentations, and technical discussions to support static and flight test campaigns and address technical inquiries.

Develop comprehensive test plans and procedures as well as to support the execution for electronic systems and power inverters.

Perform functional testing, reliability testing, and environmental testing to validate product performance and compliance with industry standards.

Plan and participate in prototype builds, production startup activities, and production support activities throughout product life cycle.

Lead prototype builds/teardown analysis of new drivers and design validation testing.
-
Generate detailed test reports, documentation, and technical specifications to document test results, methodologies, and compliance with standards.

Support the specification and commissioning of test benches, rigs, setups in collaboration with test team and technicians.

Coordinate the drawings release and purchase of parts with Suppliers together with Procurement department

Support all supplier technical inquiries related to specifications and applications, participate in suppliers meetings.

Support the commissioning of new manufacturing facilities and new suppliers processes by providing technical definitions and manufacturing requirements.

Participate in First Piece Article inspection/APQP/PPAP processes for newly specified components.

Serve as focal point from Engineering team for Quality Escape investigation, Quality Notices, Engineering Change Orders, etc.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously

Perform these and other duties and responsibilities through self-initiative, leadership, and collaboration to achieve new product development goals.
Required Knowledge & Skills:

BS Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering with focus on Electronics Systems.

2-4 years related work experience in electric drives for automotive, railway, aerospace or industrial actuation systems.

Strong understanding of electrical systems, circuit design, and PCB layout (Altium Preferred)
-
Experience with Electronics Parts Specification, Management and Application for Procurement.
-
Experience with power electronic designs above 800V and above 100kW is a plus
-
Experience with inverters testing, using RTCA DO-160G, IEC, UL Standards or Equivalent.

Experience with Electronics Manufacturing, Quality Requirements and Quality Management System.

Experience with Laboratory Equipment specification/purchasing, and operation.

Familiarity with reading 2D Drawings and using 3D modeling software, such as CREO, CATIA, NX.

Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools for Power Electronics (LTSPICE, PLECS, PSIM, SIMSCAPE)

Ability to handle competing demands and support multiple, concurrent programs.

Familiarity DO-254 development lifecycle.

Familiarity with FMEA, Control Plans, RCCAs, Test Reports, and other technical documentation.
