SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Supervisor, Control Room Operations, is responsible for the safe and effective execution of all control room activities for multiple LNG trains. This role will ensure that the personnel, processes, and procedures are in place and adequate to provide safe and reliable plant operations during start-up, shut-down and normal operations. This role will work closely with the control room board operators and the Manager, Liquefaction as part of routine operations planning and alignment on daily and long-term goals. This position is located in Brownsville, TX at the Rio Grande LNG project site. Relocation assistance may be provided, as necessary. Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical guidance and direction to multiple control room operators to operate multiple LNG trains safely and effectively.
  • Issue and authorize Permit to Work and LOTO under direction of the Manager Liquefaction.
  • Ensure equipment design limits and safeguards are always maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with all RGLNG procedures and policies to include but not limited to:
  • Permit to Work
  • Safe Isolation
  • Inhibits and Overrides
  • Confined space entry
  • Procedure use
  • Support board operator in troubleshooting and step in as needed to assist with plant operations
  • Maintain and assist in development of a positive safety culture including active participation in the implementation and reinforcement of safety procedures.
  • Contribute to an all-inclusive diverse work culture.
  • Provide training and development for Control Room Operators.
  • Facilitate teamwork between the Control Room Operators and other work groups.
  • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the DCS engineering group.
  • Remain consistently up to date with RGLNG emergency action plans and ensure the control room operators are fully prepared for emergency situations.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum/preferred proficiency and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in LNG operations at a large-scale facility
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in control room operations
  • Preferred 5 years’ experience in LNG control room operations at a large-scale facility utilizing APCI C3MR technology.
  • Good management, interpersonal, communications & organizational skills are essential.

Minimum/preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the board operators, supervision, and other employees.
  • Solid working knowledge of industry standards and procedures
  • Computer literacy in office software including databases, spreadsheets, and documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding Terminal security equipment and systems.
  • Able to use tact and discretion and maintain confidentiality in a variety of routine and emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to prepare written reports in an accurate, comprehensive, timely and legible manner.
  • Able to maintain composure and take responsible action during emergencies and stressful situations.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple activities timely and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Driven to meet and exceed performance parameters and work deadlines.

  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Ability to train and mentor liquefaction board operators.
  • Solid skills in process troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be willing to be on call, work outside of normal business hours as required and handle emergency response responsibilities.
  • Must be willing to travel for meetings and/or training as required.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
  • Operates in a complex construction environment.
  • Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
  • Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.
  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including being physically capable of traveling to a designed muster point during emergency situations.
  • Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift.
  • The incumbent is required to have fully mechanical motion and usage of all extremities.
  • Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
  • Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
  • May be required to enter confined spaces.
  • May be required to work at elevated heights and access elevated structures without assistance.
