JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Contracts & Procurement (C&P) for Rio Grande LNG, the Specialist, Contracts & Procurement will be responsible for supporting implementation and administration of the newly created company procurement function with focus on support of the Rio Grande LNG facility. The role requires a strategic mindset, technical ability to implement, administer and oversee newly developed C&P policies and guidelines and the ability to ensure that contracted goods and services meet required commercial and business objectives and performance standards. The role will perform procurement activities through highly complex professional work, including working with technical specifications, assessing markets, qualifying bidders, bid request preparation, bid evaluation and recommendation for award, procurement process quality assurance, and execution of contract awards in collaboration with NextDecade legal, technical, operations and commercial teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementation and adherence to company C&P policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Championing within the company adoption and adherence of new C&P processes.
  • Reviewing and attentively monitoring and enforcing company compliance of C&P procedures while continuously seeking to optimize and make improvements.
  • Targeting optimization of total commitments against company’s C&P plan.
  • Maximizing commercial benefit from company commitments.
  • Always protecting and enhancing the company’s reputation and conducting activities in compliance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Always protecting and enhancing the company’s supply chain relationships through proactive relationship management, ensuring transparency and evidencing at all times adherence to the highest ethical standards.
  • Help develop strategic procurement plans across the company’s businesses, including identification of leveraging contractor and supplier synergies.
  • Facilitating the company successfully securing required goods and services.
  • Maintaining day-to-day relations with company stakeholders related to procurement demands.
  • Supporting C&P negotiations of pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules.
  • Understanding the category plan and prioritizing accordingly for critical procurement activities.
  • Supporting the overage, shortage, or damage process.
  • Analysis of alternative procurement strategies, including logistics.
  • Developing and maintaining a procurement compliance log and providing weekly and monthly KPI reports.
  • Minimal travel expected, mostly to the Rio Grande LNG facility, located in Brownsville, TX.

Minumum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or significant experience in procurement processes of large facility operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in strategic sourcing and procurement across a broad set of categories and within a complex corporate environment, as well as project, program, and account management.
  • Experience working within SAP (experience in SAP deployment is a plus).
  • Ability to follow compliance with, policies and procedures for all procurement activities.
  • Knowledge of supply risk minimization and mitigation
  • Ability to practice preservation and enhancement of company’s reputation.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Works well in dynamic team environment with matrixed objectives.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, market dynamics, and supplier behavior.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective time management
  • Adaptability to manage changes in work environment, adhering to updated deadlines or unexpected delays.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of SAP PTP and MM modules, S4/HANA
  • Knowledge of procurement budgets, compliance, and supplier monitoring.
  • Experience with negotiation, communication, and people skills.
  • Knowledge of contract law and procurement principles.
  • Knowledge of contract management and procurement software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and optimization of effective, efficient and compliant procurement processes.
  • LNG or energy industry related experience

Work Environment & Physical Demands with or without reasonable accommodations

  • Work is performed in an office with computers.
  • Must be able to wear all mandatory/necessary PPE equipment when visiting the job site.
  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including being physically capable of traveling to a designed muster point during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
