Solar service O&M Electricians travel from site to site performing remote troubleshooting, onsite troubleshooting, component replacement, and repair services across our great state of Texas. A service electrician can also expect to spend time in the office reviewing monitoring sites, and reporting of daily site accomplishments.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Shows the ability to diagnose issues through non-technical and technical descriptions that are provided by customers and colleagues.
- Knowledge of hand-held power tool operation and safety.
- Highly effective organization skills
- Proficient with using computer/ mobile applications to document field/ office progress
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Shows excellent customer service and communication skills and maintains a professional appearance.
- Willingness to adapt and overcome obstacles and able to perform comfortably with new hardware and do semi complex problem solving.
- Is able to handle multiple tasks within a single day, comfortable with daily schedules that are full and communicates immediately to the supervisor when jobs take unexpected turns.
- Ability to recognize additional sales opportunities and effectively communicate the wishes of the customer to the staff coordinating the estimate process.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs of weight frequently throughout the day
- Must be willing to climb ladders, stairs and work on rooftops
- Comfortable working with a schedule that can change quickly
- 2-3 years of roof work, general construction, plumbing, or electrical strongly preferred
- Prior solar industry experience is a plus
- Ability to travel out of town when needed to complete jobs – limited to the state of Texas
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen
- Must be able to pass pre employment driving record check
Equipment and Tools:
- The company provides ladders and safety equipment. You are responsible for having the basic tools that a solar electrician may need.
- Consumables (electric tape, bits, zip ties, etc.) are provided.
- Specialized equipment is provided. (pipe bender, fish tape, etc.)
- You will need basic hand and power tools to include but not limited to: impact driver, drill, 11 & 1 screwdriver, wire strippers, linemans pliers, pipe wrench, needle nose pliers, measuring tape, 3mm flathead screwdriver.
- Company vehicles provided
- Use of a personal vehicle to get to and from job sites when company vehicles are not available.
- Smart phone (will need to install apps for solar related troubleshoots and team communication).
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Uses monitoring sites to identify, communicate, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair issues with existing solar PV systems.
- Create or interpret the solar panel installation plans to assist in system diagnosis.
- Provides on-site commissioning and installation of various forms of equipment.
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair solar PV (AC & DC) system components.
- Use of landscaping tools when required to install, repair, or replace PV components.
- Perform repairs on faulty equipment as soon as possible.
- Assess the job site, identify and resolve any potential hazards.
- Travels to, Troubleshoots, tests and repairs equipment at the customers site.
- Maintain detailed records and documents on companys CRM platform.
- Confirms that the solar system functions normally and provides contract or warranty repair or replacement on-site when necessary.
- Weatherproof the solar installation in accordance with local safety regulations and the specifications of the manufacturer.
- Effectively communicates with both customer and colleagues of repairs completed or next steps toward completion before leaving the customers premises.
- Coordinate with all other teams in the organization.
- Suggest new solutions that will improve the overall performance and efficiency of the service department.
- Advises customers on shut-down, start-up, operation and maintenance of various pieces of equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned to him or her by the service manager.
