Our Offshore Wind Engineering team is responsible for the offshore transmission development activities that enable the energy taken from the winds out at sea, transformed into electricity and supplied into the electricity network onshore. They help to provide support to both our onshore/ HVDC converter stations to our offshore converter platforms, and jackets. In addition, this team works to assist in interfacing with platform fabricators as well as engineering and permitting consultants – specifically for Community Offshore Wind (COSW) which is a joint venture between RWE Offshore Renewables and National Grid Ventures.
As a Co-Op student in this role, you will assist the team with engineering tasks related to offshore platforms and provide support for offshore wind projects at our onshore substations. Additionally, you will help the Business Development team during the initial and developmental stages of projects. Lastly, you will contribute to defining structural engineering requirements and support the construction and implementation of HVDC converter stations, HVAC substations, and offshore platforms.
Qualified applicants will be expected to work 40 hours per week and must be within a commutable distance to our Boston, MA offices understanding that you must commit to a Co-op experience of at least 6 months in duration.

This co-op opportunity is classified as Remote, meaning in person work will be dependent on important meetings/ events, in-person trainings and etc. As a requirement, you must be located within a commutable distance to our Boston, MA offices. To continue with our commitment to transparency, more information will be shared about your work model as we get closer to your start date and would be in accordance with National Grid policies.
Salary Range
$25.00 – $26.00 an hour (Undergraduate Student)
$33.00 an hour (Graduate Student)
Candidates will be assessed and provided offers based on major, degree type, and class year. Our Co-Op Program does not offer relocation, housing assistance, or public transportation reimbursement for students; however, we can provide a list of resources to utilize in making your arrangements.
Please note that as a Co-Op student, you must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont. You must also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
