The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Analytics & Reporting Specialist to join our team on a Full Time basis!

The Analytics and Reporting Specialist is responsible for analyzing and reporting on procurement data to support strategic decision-making within the organization. This role involves collecting, cleansing, interpreting, and presenting data related to procurement activities, supplier performance, savings opportunities, and other key metrics.

National Grid is leading the charge towards a Net Zero future in the UK and NE of USA. We recognize that decarbonizing our electric and gas systems will require resolving many questions and seeking new partnerships, technologies and transformative investments. Over the next 5 years, we will be investing over 60bn across our UK and US businesses nearly double the investment over the past 5 years. This is an exciting time for our industry that is creating significant opportunities for National Grid; this is not just a moment in time; it’s a game-changing era that will shape National Grid’s success for decades to come.

Given this backdrop, our supply chains are facing an unprecedented set of challenges and are at the forefront of our plans, placing National Grid Procurement at the centre of our Net Zero goals. We have set out an ambitious transformation plan, focused on becoming a client of choice for our supply partners whilst ensuring outstanding outcomes for our Business Units (BUs). Our strategy revolves around significant changes in three core areas:

What You’ll Do

This role will work closely with the procurement team to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, ultimately contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement function.

  • Gather data from various sources, including procurement systems, supplier databases, financial records and flat Excel files. Clean, validate, and analyse the data to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
  • Take full ownership of ensuring data integrity and upholding trust with our stakeholders. Supports team members with data fluency and education to foster data ownership by our stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain regular reports and dashboards that provide key insights into procurement performance, supplier performance, savings opportunities, and other relevant metrics. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of reports.
  • Use statistical techniques and data visualization tools to analyze procurement data and identify opportunities for savings opportunities, process improvements, and risk mitigation. Present findings and recommendations to the procurement team and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to develop and refine procurement strategies based on data-driven insights. Provide input and recommendations on supplier selection, contract negotiations, and supplier performance management.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement activities. Regularly monitor and report on KPIs to identify areas of improvement or potential risks.
  • Continuously evaluate procurement processes and systems to identify opportunities for automation, streamlining, and optimization. Work with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and ensure data integrity.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in procurement analytics and reporting. Share knowledge and insights with the procurement team to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree level in Data Science, Business Intelligence, Engineering or other related field; or equivalent 5 years relevant experience minimum
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience with increasing responsibilities
  • Proven experience in procurement analytics, data analysis, or business intelligence.
  • Proven experience working with big structured and unstructured data and data quality management processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and compelling stories.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx).
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract management.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques and predictive modelling.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Additional Information

This role is offered on a Full-Time, Permanent basis.

We are also offering hybrid / flexible working where travel to the office will be as per business need.

This role can be located: Waltham, MA

Waltham: $99,000- $116,000 a year
