It operates (2) Babcock and Wilcox Subcritical Boilers and (2) GE-F2 Steam Turbines for Unit1-2, as well as (2) Combustion Engineering Subcritical Boilers and (2) GE-F2 Steam Turbines for Unit3-4. Opportunity Summary

The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and routine maintenance of the facility. The O&M Supervisor works with the Operations Manager and the Maintenance Manager to implement the Operating Plan and identifies those areas which may need improvement or further development. The O&M Supervisor ensures that the plant operating conditions are always kept within optimum limits.

Additionally, the O&M Supervisor will provide operations and maintenance support to two other peaking combustion turbine sites: Warren, located in Warren, PA, and Blossburg, located in Covington, PA.

Primary Duties

Your scope of responsibility as Shift Supervisor includes the following primary functions:

  • Direct operations and maintenance personnel in their daily duties to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power plant.
  • Report plant conditionsnormal, abnormal, or emergencyto the Operations Manager, and take corrective actions in accordance with established policies or as directed.
  • Collaborate closely with the Maintenance Manager to address the plants predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance needs.
  • Oversee the upkeep of essential plant logs and records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.
  • Ensure proper implementation of the plant’s water chemistry program, including regular testing, inspections, and maintenance of water treatment systems.
  • Review and update plant policies and procedures periodically to ensure alignment with current goals, operating requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain high morale and motivation among operations personnel, addressing employee concerns effectively and promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with NAES policies, procedures, project work rules, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Implement and oversee safety programs, including Safe Work Permits, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, Hot Work, and Chemical Handling, to promote a culture of safety.
  • Encourage and facilitate employee training across all plant programs, ensuring an adequate number of trained personnel for continuous, safe operations, even under adverse conditions.
  • Prepare employees for greater responsibilities and contribute to plant-wide succession planning efforts.
  • Provide cross-training opportunities to foster a well-rounded and flexible team.
  • Ensure that safety protocols are integrated into all job assignments and that work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with recruiting, screening, and hiring personnel to maintain a skilled and competent workforce.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of AC/DC electrical systems (208V, 480V, 4160V AC, and 135V DC) and transformers up to 230kV, ensuring reliable power distribution.
  • Perform inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance of substation equipment, including HV/LV breakers (oil-contained and SF6), with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager and Maintenance Manager.

  • Conduct Inspections and Observations: Establish a regular inspection process for the work area and implement a safety observation process for ongoing work.
  • Lead Safety Activities: Organize these activities in accordance with any rules, requirements, or guidance established in your business unit, group, or division.
  • Involve All NAES Teammates: Engage all team members in safety activities.
  • Analyze Results and Educate: Analyze inspection results, write work orders, train employees, and educate them to eliminate hazards and at-risk behavior while meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Regular Observation Tours: Perform at least two safety observation tours of high-risk activities (e.g., confined space) to ensure employees are working in accordance with safe practices, company procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain Regular and Frequent Contacts: Conduct one-on-one sessions with workers to discuss safety issues, communicate expectations, and coach safe behaviors, such as ensuring employees are wearing all required personal protective equipment.
  • Respond to Incidents: Address all safety-related incidents, including injuries, incidents, and near misses. Write a report detailing what occurred, identifying the cause, and recommending corrective actions according to established business unit or division practices. Follow up as necessary to ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Working Relationships

The O&M Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager and supervises plant operations and maintenance personnel. The O&M Supervisor will take direction from the Maintenance Manager and coordinates closely with the Plant Manager and cooperates with the Plant Administrator as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.

Fitness for Duty

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.

Work Schedule

This position offers a Monday to Friday work schedule, during regular dayshift hours. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. “On call” status will periodically be required.

Compensation

Initial starting compensation will range from $100,500 to $141,000, and will include an annual performance bonus.

Job Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate who has extensive power plant technical and leadership experience with a work history that demonstrates a pattern of accomplishments and advancement. Experience with combined cycle power plants is desirable.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Extensive experience in power plant operations and maintenance, with expertise in managing equipment, optimizing performance, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
  • Proficiency in AC/DC electrical systems (208V, 480V, 4160V AC, and 135V DC) and transformer operations up to 230kV, including 115kV and 34.5kV systems.
  • Experience with substation operations, including high- and low-voltage breakers (oil-contained and SF6), with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability in high-voltage environments.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a focus on driving compliance with HSE programs and aligning plant policies and procedures with current goals and operating standards.
  • Effective management abilities, including the capacity to motivate, direct, and supervise personnel to efficiently complete duties, conduct performance appraisals, and implement rewards or discipline as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor, inspect, maintain, and control machinery, equipment, and facilities to protect the owner’s investment.
  • Experience in developing and managing long-term maintenance plans, using structured methods for organizing daily activities, including weekly and monthly schedules.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) (preferred).
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
