This role will assist in the tendering, negotiation and management of the O&M contracts for Vineyard Wind 1 project. In the early years support consists of providing commercial support whilst they develop the O&M contracting strategies through the O&M readiness phase of the projects and later leading up to the operational phase.

This role will include working closely with teams from the Construction, Legal, Insurance, Financial and Procurement teams to ensure contracts are managed effectively.

Belonging to the Offshore Operations Team and reporting to the Manager, O&M Contracts, the Contract Manager will assist in defining contracting strategies and plans, tendering, negotiating and (in some cases) managing multi-million offshore Service contracts. This role will be responsible for identifying, assessing and creating procedures, to support site functions. In addition, the individual will assist in the management of contractual & commercial risks and seek out opportunities to optimize and drive the performance of the service supplier contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the tendering, negotiation and management of service contracts for Vineyard Wind 1 project.;
  • Provide correct contractual and commercial implementation of contractors reporting, collection of records as well as adequate administration of claims and variations for any event.
  • Assist in managing and coordinating advice on key commercial risks under existing supply contracts;
  • Process claims-in following a controlled and agreed manner in accordance to Project specifics;
  • Assist in the handling of Defect Liability Period claims deriving from project‘s construction contracts;
  • Monitor and anticipate claims made by contractors under the contracts and assist in developing mitigation strategies in line with the contract terms;
  • Facilitate delivery of the project’s interests in preparing for negotiations with the contractors;
  • Support in negotiations of claims and variations with contractors;
  • Undertake detailed contract reviews and analysis allowing wider team to better interpret and apply key contract provisions on the day-to-day operational clauses of the contract;
  • Support in preparing notes of advice and commercial drafting on claims and variations;
  • Make commercial recommendations to the Lead or Senior Contract Managers on commercial issues and risks arising in contracts;
  • Ensure best practices and processes are implemented and applied in contract management ensuring involvement and interfacing with key company functions such as Purchasing, Insurance, Financial, Legal, etc.
  • In addition, the individual will support in the Supply Chain strategy for the project:

    • Devising the most economically advantageous multi- contract solutions.
    • Ensuring procurement best practices and sound risk allocation principles are maintained.
    • Provision for management of interfaces across several concurrent supply chain contracts.
    • Encouraging supply chain growth. This will include working with senior executives in supply chain companies, regional development agencies, local authorities and other stakeholders.

    Education & Experience Required

    • Degree and professional qualification in relevant discipline -Engineering, Contract Management, Legal background, Project Management, Construction Management, or commercially orientated qualification.
    • IT literate, with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT-based project management software.
    • Extensive commercial, contractual, technical, and practical knowledge of renewable energy technology and/or oil-gas.
    • Extensive experience in the management of multidisciplinary contracting strategies.
    • Proven track record delivering large, complex, multidisciplinary contracts preferable in a renewable energy environment.
    • Strong knowledge of industry standards and offshore regulations.
    • Proven capability of delivering against multiple targets.
    • Proactive and diligent approach.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
    • Good organizational and operational skills with the ability to link this awareness to contractual judgment and decision making.
    • Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing working environment and demonstrate a positive approach to change.
    • A high degree of self-motivation with a flexible approach to work.
    • Team player approach with strong leadership capabilities.
    • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as an ability to deal with new software.

    Degree level qualification.

    Some experience in commercial and contractual aspects of engineering.

    Proven ability to manage the negotiation of multi-contracts in competing timescales;

    Some postgraduate experience in industry with significant experience in Offshore Wind

    Strong ability to manage own performance, with a significant focus on delivery and an ability to balance a varied and challenging workload, whilst producing high quality results in demanding timeframes.

    Strong command of English, both verbally and written.

    IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.

    Eligibility to work in US.
