SUMMARY:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Efficiency
Understand by facility what the peak demand charging mechanism is and how the facility mitigates such charges. Make recommendations how to lower peak charges.
Establish a culture of continuous improvement for energy efficiency.
Determine the feasibility of switching to electrically powered industrial forklifts.
Identify areas of high energy consumption in the facilities and identify alternative energy efficient processes.
Conduct-site and field observations, collect energy efficiency data, and analyze the process of energy efficiency used; analyze efficiency measures for utility savings; provide information on alternative sources of energy.
Provide information to facilities about potential high energy efficient processes with implementation assistance as needed/requested.
Evaluate overall energy efficiency of the entire organization.
Develop Best Management Practices for the installation and design of systems such as climate control systems, daylighting design, etc.; provide technical assistance to facilities on an as requested basis.
Coordinate with local utilities for project review and secure available rebates and incentives as requested by facility.
Develop and perform measurement and verification plans for implemented measures
Prepare engineering design calculations and drawings for select efficiency measures as requested by the facility.
Develop technical expertise in all matters to do with energy and environmental control.
Energy waste
Determine energy waste.
Determine if thermal energy waste can be re-used at any site.
Renewables
Determine by facility if co-generation is financially attractive (capital, ROI, OpCost), if incentives are available, etc.
ESG reporting
Gather and analyze utility bill data for electric, gas, and water for consistency and accuracy at facility level. Report once a year for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions calculations.
Assist with the preparation of the sustainability report by identifying power generations types including their emissions i.e. gas, coal, nuclear, wind, etc. so that the company can derive its Scope 2 emissions and percentage renewable.
Determine and keep track of the utility suppliers decarbonization efforts.
Energy Management ISO 50001
Establish an Energy Management system at all northern facilities and possibly elsewhere later on.
