Job Summary: We seek an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team that designs, develops, and implements solar and battery storage projects. You will play a key role in ensuring the technical excellence and successful execution of our projects while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of engineering principles, and project management experience. They will lead a team of electrical engineers, ensuring the successful execution of projects within budget, timeline, and quality standards. The Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and drive continuous improvement in engineering processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Oversee all aspects of electrical engineering for solar and battery storage projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning.
  • Collaborate with the Developer, EPC, and other involved parties during planning, installation, and commissioning to provide the engineering deliverables necessary to achieve the project’s success.
  • Ensure all relevant electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and timelines and manage project risks.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, operations, and procurement teams to ensure project success and seamless project execution.
  • Stay current on the latest advancements in solar and battery storage technologies.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by providing technical expertise during proposal development, including support for defining, reviewing, and approving project scope and deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, resolving complex engineering issues as they arise.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives, process optimization, and efficiency improvements in engineering operations.
  • Must manage conflict with staff and clients and have proven problem-solving ability and sound judgment.
  • Provide company-wide training for the development of our team.
  • Quality assurance and quality control of electrical designs and reports.
  • Comfortable traveling cross-country to perform design reviews and site visits for technical support to construction teams.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a minimum of 3 years on utility-scale solar and battery storage required.
  • General knowledge of solar plant civil design, structural design, substation and interconnection, and SCADA requirements and design.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of engineers, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional understanding of electrical systems design, power conversion, and grid interconnection.
  • Experience with electrical engineering modeling software, including ETAP/SKM, CYMCAP, and WinIGS/CDEGS.
  • Experience with PV modeling tools: PVsyst and SAM.
  • Field experience is preferred.
  • Experience with specifying and procuring electrical equipment.
  • Familiar with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NERC, and other applicable standards.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, including organizing and presenting complex technical information in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results, prioritize tasks, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 – $180,000.00 per year
