Michael Page has exclusively partnered with a global IPP who are looking to add a VP of Development to oversee all Development activities within the US while reporting to the company’s global CDO.

Their portfolio consists of utility-scale storage projects across ERCOT, CAISO & WECC.

Client Details

A rapidly growing IPP (90 people globally) that has coverage across the US for utility-scale storage projects. With an exceptional reputation in the industry, they are now expanding their US operations further having been operating in the US for the last 2 years.

With a substantial pipeline of projects in both the early and delivery phase, our client are actively looking to grow their Development team and expand across multiple regions including ERCOT, CAISO & WECC.

This opportunity will include hands-on development activities while immediately managing 1 Development Manager, with the responsibility to also build out an entire Development function.

Now is the perfect time to join this IPP due to their significant financial backing in support of their aggressive growth plans within the US. This role will be a crucial part of their leadership team and will provide an opportunity for quick and frequent progression within the company’s internal structure.

Description

The VP of DevelopmentRemote, will be responsible for:

  • Lead Project Development activities, both greenfield and with co-development partners.
  • Take a lead role in the development of greenfield BESS opportunities and sites, initially across CAISO, ERCOT and WECC including:
  • Acquisition of exclusivity and options on land
  • Permitting and statutory approvals including management of consultants for environmental, cultural heritage, and technical studies
  • Landowner, community, and key stakeholder engagement
  • Interconnection approvals, including working closely with the Engineering team
  • Lead project management and execution plans for the development phase of Projects including comprehensive schedules, risk registers, and supporting key documentation.
  • Take a lead role in developing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders such as developers, Utility Partners and DSOs and TSOs
  • Grow and actively line-manage a multi-discipline development team including a project management function and external consultants.
  • Lead interactions with key EPC partners. This includes building relationships with EPCs to deliver new and innovative solutions and supporting EPC negotiations with the legal and commercial team.
  • Assist with offtake and capital raising activities as required. This includes supporting relationships with investors, lenders and equity partners. Assist off-takers and investors with project due diligence, documentation preparation, and presentations as required.

Profile

The VP of DevelopmentRemote, will have:

  • 8+ years development experience within the industry.
  • Must have overseen and delivered utility-scale solar or battery projects.
  • Exposure to developing projects in WECC or CAISO or ERCOT strongly preferred.
  • Well-rounded project management experience.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Real Estate or Development is desirable.
