Job Description

This role will report directly into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for

  • Designing and Developing PLC Programs: Creating and developing PLC programs for automation and control systems, using Siemens.
  • Configuring SCADA Systems: Setting up and programming SCADA systems for monitoring and advancing technology development.
  • Developing HMIs: Designing HMIs to support site-wide R&D and process development functions.
  • Collaborating on Requirements: Working with process development and design engineers to gather requirements and define system specifications.
  • Implementing Control Strategies: Applying control strategies to optimize production processes and enhance the efficiency of advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Conducting Testing and Validation: Performing testing and validation of control systems to ensure their reliability and functionality.
  • Providing Technical Support: Offering technical support and troubleshooting expertise for deployed equipment.
  • Participating in Commissioning: Engaging in commissioning and startup activities for new internal and external projects.
  • Documenting Systems: Documenting control system designs, configurations, and procedures.
  • Supporting SQL Databases: Managing SQL database systems for storing and retrieving manufacturing and development data.
  • Utilizing Python: Using Python or other relevant software for scripting, data analysis, and automation tasks.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field
  • 5+ years of controls and automation experience, Siemens preferred
  • Proficiency in SCADA, Ignition preferred
  • Familiarity with industrial control networks and field devices (PLC, HMI, power supplies, drives, sensors, actuators, etc.)
  • SQL database experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and safety protocols
  • Proficiency in Python programming and scripting
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Effective communication skills
