The Role

Matrix Renewables is looking for a highly motivated individual to play a key role in our fast-growing and well-established team.The Real Estate Manager will be responsible for overseeing real estate for Matrix in the US, reporting to the VP of US Development. The Real Estate Manager is responsible for leading site acquisition campaigns across multiple states and identifying and resolving issues related to title/vesting matters, reviewing land surveys, and other real estate matters in connection with development of renewable energy, storage, and green hydrogen projects across the United States.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Lead the real estate development function for Matrix in the US, accomplishing site control goals and achieving all required real estate related results needed for projects to reach NTP
  • Drive site control acquisition for solar, storage, and green hydrogen projects from identifying suitable land through signing real estate agreements and other documents
  • Engage with landowners, neighbors, and community groups to facilitate strong community perception and foster good relationships
  • Identify and manage third party consultants on real estate matters including site control, title reports and insurance, minerals, and surveys
  • Work cross-functionally with team members in Development, Legal, Permitting and Environmental, Engineering, Construction, and Finance on real estate matters
  • Work with Legal team to prepare, negotiate, execute, and file real estate agreements and documents
  • Review title reports and surveys as the subject matter expert in connection with real estate agreements and site plans
  • Oversee compliance with real estate agreements including ensuring that site control and mineral waiver option payments are tracked and paid on time
  • Identify and resolve title issues including site constraints
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate real estate related risks
  • Ensure the smooth handover of projects to the EPC team
  • Manage reporting, budgets, purchase orders, approvals, and invoicing on all real estate matters in development
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in a relevant field; MS or MA in a relevant field a plus
  • 6+ years of real estate development experience required, preferably in greenfield development and renewable energy projects
  • Proficient with real estate documents and terminology disclosed in title reports
  • Positive and can-do attitude
  • Excited by challenges as well as eager to innovate and overcome them
  • Strong decision-making skills when faced with uncertainty
  • Strong entrepreneurial, executive, analytical, organizational, and people skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong ability to perform at a high level in a matrixed organization, managing multiple projects and relationships simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • High attention to detail and curiosity
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, working in a collaborative and supportive manner
  • Native English level speaking
  • Ability to travel to our Miami office and throughout the U.S. to meet landowners and other stakeholders for Matrix projects
