Taking action to select a strategy and choose a technology configuration and financing has been confusing, slow, and at best done 1-building-at-a-time with expensive consulting reports that end up on a shelf.
Lumen Energy enables commercial building owners with 10s – 1000s of properties to systematically and easily cut carbon and make money from decarbonization. The Lumen platform synthesizes diverse energy, property, and policy data to automatically build financial models across financing structures for onsite decarbonization strategies that are unique to each property. Building owners can vet project feasibility and economics outcomes with rigor, and receive competitive bids from a managed marketplace of leading financiers to develop, finance, and operate the projects. Lumen makes it easy to evaluate and execute on ambitious decarbonization strategies at scale.
We are looking for an in-house expert on solar and battery design and deployment for Commercial & Industrial buildings across the country. In this role, you will:
Own and scale Lumens remote design processes for solar and battery proposals at specific properties, including drawings, equipment specifications, sizing considerations and interconnection points
Act as expert advisor to Lumens current and prospective customers on PV and ESS designs, technical project requirements, and end-to-end process from initial modeling to final construction
Oversee and scale Lumens processes for sourcing, selecting, and collaborating with the highest quality EPC partners across the country
Coordinate with EPC partners on customer development projects, including bid solicitation and site walk scheduling
Own Lumens PV & ESS cost modeling by working with Finance and Engineering to regularly update equipment pricing, installation cost estimates and other inputs into Lumens core financial model
Pilot new offerings for Lumen customers by first developing offline procedures and eventually working with our Engineering team to build into our software solutions
At least 10 years in the solar energy industry, with specific experience overseeing onsite project development from initial engagement to operational launch
At least 3 years in a customer-facing or sales role, with strong customer communication and technical sales skills
Strong knowledge of PV & ESS supply chain, equipment, design and installation
Familiarity with roof types, metering configurations, tenancy, and other relevant details that pertain to Commercial & Industrial buildings
Deep understanding of the role of Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) providers in solar and battery project development, including the interconnection process with utilities
Expertise in Helioscope, Energy Toolbase and other common industry tools for designing behind-the-meter PV & ESS projects
Proven project management skills, with the ability to work autonomously on 0-1 initiatives
Passion for decarbonization
Past experience in, or knowledge of, Electric Vehicle charging installations for Commercial & Industrial buildings
Past experience working at an early stage start-up
Compensation Range: $160K – $200K
