Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist with maintaining waste disposal and recycling programs.
- Serves as initial on-site contact and liaison between environmental contractors and regulatory inspectors.
- Evaluates test results and make recommendations for maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Waste determinations and profiles set up with disposal facilities.
- Perform regular site inspections for environment compliances.
- Identify root causes of environmental problems and propose appropriate action plans.
- Work with cross-functional teams to maintain environmental management and monitoring programs.
- Sample collection at facility emissions points and permitted water outfalls that may require working at heights and outdoors in all weather conditions, including but not limited to: heat, cold, humidity, snow, rain, wind, direct sunlight, and noise.
- Follow and enforce environmental health and safety procedures.
- Help identify areas of improvements to reduce environmental damages and wastes.
- Maintain complete and clear documentation for environmental operations for reference purposes.
- Assist with developing hazard control programs to reduce contaminations and accidents.
- Assist with analyzing key sustainability metric data and help generate periodic reports to track goal accomplishment, performance against targets, and key environmental metrics.
- Assist with maintaining environmental regulatory permits and required plans including air emissions recordkeeping and emissions inventory data.
- Develop, facilitate, and track Environmental training for all associates and new hires. Contribute to environmental communications (e.g. presentations, training materials, communication board). Participate in the planning of spill drills and exercises.
- Analyze utility data for trends and anomalies in consumption and assist in the development of plausibility thresholds for future utility usage.
- Maintain RCRA and DOT Certifications.
- Assist with the planning of on-site contractors. Maintain contractor training records and documentation.
- Be knowledgeable with GHS Classification and label requirements.
- Assist and support SDS management for non-production chemicals. Help departments with registering new chemicals into SDS program. Assist Departments with their annual SDS &chemical inventory reviews.
Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication. Strict attention to detail will be key to success in this role.
- Exceptional organization and record keeping skills.
- Computer Skills: knowledge of internet research, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Strong data management and analytical skills.
- Self-starter with time management skills as well as work in a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and interpersonal skills. Ability to work and promote harmony in a team environment.

Education / Experience
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in an environmental role, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Current training certifications or ability to obtain certifications within 6 months of hire date as needed, including but not limited to Arkansas Wastewater Operator License, DOT HazMat, Visible Emissions Certification.
Special Training/Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, regulatory officers or employees of organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
