What You’ll do

Support O&M in delivering operational excellence across the business. Build a strong culture and record of safety and compliance. Support in developing operations and maintenance methodologies and procedures that maximize the performance of PV plant sites. Support in developing processes and programs to ensure high and medium voltage components are operated and maintained in optimal condition to avoid operational failure. Serve as an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Subject Matter Expert and work collaboratively and cross functionally on O&M related Asset Management workstreams.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Create and maintain a safe working environment by ensuring all activities and tasks are performed safely and in accordance with LSbp procedures.•    Ensure that preventive maintenance schedules are developed and implemented based on component warranty requirements and electrical best practices.•    Streamline and organize across multiple projects by creating standard operating procedures, where possible.•    Support North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Generator Owner (GO)/ Generator Operator (GOP) compliance.•    Ensure that substation de-energization, lock out tag out (LOTO) and re-energization procedures are developed, documented, reviewed and approved.•    Ensure compliance with operational elements of NERC and RTO compliance, such as Winter and Summer Weatherization Checklists and Readiness Attestations.•    Create substation construction to O&M transition checklists and manage onboarding of new substations into the operational fleet.•    Work closely with Construction team to ensure projects are functioning properly at handover of Care Custody and Control from Engineering and Procurement Construction (EPC) to O&M providers.•    Perform acceptance inspections on newly constructed substations and associated high and medium voltage equipment.•    Analyze asset performance, repair times, and other key metrics to identify trends and form action plans to drive business wide efficiencies and continuous improvements and to reduce Operational Expenses (OPEX) spend.•    Implement improvement initiatives and optimize plant performance and plant operating efficiency while preserving warranties on plant equipment.•    Support investigations of plant outages, Direct Current (DC) underperformance, high and medium voltage issues and other unexpected plant and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) behavior.•    Create detailed documentation of equipment replaced or repaired under warranty.•    Monitor third party O&M provider activities including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and periodic testing requirements to ensure site reliability and regulatory compliance.•    Oversee site protection systems, ensure relays and protection systems are maintained to regulatory standards.•    Diagnose relay actions to determine root cause of electrical events.•    Lead investigations into major incidents to ensure root cause is uncovered, repairs are made in a timely fashion and lessons learned are recorded and distributed across the fleet.•    Acting on behalf of LSbp, particularly in major electrical outages to ensure all necessary actions are being taken to safely identify issues, true root cause and evaluate the short/long term solution. Then share lessons learned across the organization•    Engage with colleagues in other regions to share lessons learned/best practices•    Engage with key equipment framework suppliers to develop a network of technical support availability.

Who we’re looking for

Knowledge

•    Solution oriented.•    Ability to multi-task in support of cross functional requirements while diligently meeting required timelines.•    Ability to assess, troubleshoot, implement, and communicate lessons learned. Sound knowledge of solar SCADA, generation and transmission system fundamentals, as well as AC/DC wiring, electrical codes, etc.•    Understanding of site protection relaying systems and ability to read and program relay files.•    Battery Energy Storage Systems knowledge desired but not required

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or extensive technical field experience.•    Microsoft Office Suite skills.

Experience

•    10+ years of related work experience•    Previous engineering experience in an operations and maintenance role required.•    High level of technical knowledge of substation design and operation, a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics, design and scope of large-scale ground mounted solar systems and supporting high and medium voltage systems required.•    Project management skills an advantage
