Responsible for the monitoring and control of pressures and flows on the Company’s distribution system via the SCADA system in order to meet customer demands in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner. Manage the supply and demand balance with upstream pipeline systems by coordinating and nominating discretionary pipeline supplies, storage, and peaking resources; daily forecasting of firm load requirements; and coordination of activities with field personnel.

Accountabilities

  • Monitor and control system pressures and flows
  • Respond to gas alarms and take corrective actions
  • Provide support during system emergencies
  • Direct field personnel and coordinate LNG/LPG Plant operation
  • Verify accuracy of data and reports
  • Complete Control center logs and reports.
  • Establish restoration priorities and dispatch resources as appropriate
  • Update screens and displays as needed.
  • Coordinate Emergency Response with Engineering/Field
  • Complies with Federal and State regulations as set forth by the Department of Transportation
  • Coordinate daily planning with Energy Procurement
  • Balance customer needs with available supplies on a daily basis utilizing on-system and upstream resources
  • Assist in verification and confirmations of flows, nominations, and gas data

Education and Experience

  • Two year degree or higher Technical Degree (i.e. Engineering/Technology) or 4 years equivalent work experience in gas or electric industry required.
  • Excellent written, communication, and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to read and understand GIS/System Maps preferred.
  • Work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Able to work shift work including overtime, Saturday, Sunday, holiday, on-call and shifts as assigned.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and SCADA preferred.
  • Experience in Gas & Electric operations and general understanding of gas & electric distribution preferred.
  • Meet the physically fit DOT determined by Company’s physician and pass DOT drug testing.
  • Pass Control Room Operator Qualifications.
  • Ability to assimilate data from a variety of sources quickly, formulates, and executes action plans during periods of stress.
  • Some traveling may be required.
