We are actively seeking an Injection Molding Technician with plastics experience who has both injection molding & materials testing experience. (Mainly Injection Molding). The ideal Technician will have a polymer background with experience in Automotive, Home Appliance or Consumer product industries to work with our clients. This position is on-site at our Ravenna, OH Customer Solution Center.

Responsibilities include:

  • Utilize in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in injection molding processes.
  • Follow the international standard ASTM, ISO, conduct plastic material testing like Mechanical testing (Tensile / Flexural / Falling weight), Thermal testing (HDT, MI), Physical (Density, Scratch) and weatherability testing.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain injection molding machines and other material testing equipment.
  • (Preparation for experiment & maintenance – all materials, components, reagents, etc.)
  • Perform front-line troubleshooting of issues related to injection molding processes and material testing.
  • Perform certain tests to measure material performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering team to optimize injection molding processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers to conduct experiments and tests to identify and implement process enhancements.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of molded products to evaluate product defects.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to injection molding processes, changes, and improvements.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for engineers to generate comprehensive reports.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of injection molding processes and material testing.
  • Additional responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs and goals of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of R&D Principles.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to follow an outline and execute experiments with specific objectives.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to make basic measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to execute under tight timelines.
  • Proven experience as a technician in a plastics R&D environment, with a focus on injection molding and material testing.
  • Ability to interpret process data effectively.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding principle and plastic material properties.
  • Knowledge of extrusion processes is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+years of experience in an injection molding industry required.
  • Material testing certification highly desired.
  • Extensive experience in developing and optimizing injection molding parameters and plastic material testing.
  • Experience in machining, mold fabrication, assembly and mold maintenance
  • Knowledge of various thermoplastic materials and evaluation tools
  • Collaboration experience with injection molding engineer, product designer
  • MS Excel, MS Word Skills
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
