RE Tech Advisors is seeking entry level candidates and those early in their sustainability careers to join our next cohort of our ESG Rotational Program, beginning in July 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing sustainability advisory firm to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.
RE Techs ESG Rotational Program provides on-the-job training in a wide range of knowledge, skills and abilities needed for a career in sustainability. This program supports the transition to the professional work environment, fosters camaraderie among peers while exposing the participants to different areas of work in and sustainability across RE Tech, contributing to work on different client services, laying the foundation for your sustainability career. We work with team members in this program to develop the skills they need to advance into different roles within our organization.
Successful candidates must have demonstrate their passion and interest in sustainability, either through coursework, education, volunteer work, professional work such as an internship, or in their personal lives. Please ensure to reflect this through your resume.
We offer positions out of our headquarters office in Tysons Corner, Virginia (13 miles west of Washington, DC) and Dallas, Texas. RE Tech supports a hybrid work model with flexible work schedules that include a mix of in office and work from home, following a successful onboarding period.
The salary for this position is $60,000 per year. The start date for this position will be sometime in July 2025.

Essential Job Functions / Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and learn about RE Techs ESG Programs and Data & Analytics Teams through:
  • Ongoing ESG and utility data collection and reporting efforts
  • Uploading and benchmarking building energy, water, and waste utility data in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
  • Analyze utility bills and upload data into software programs.
  • Review utility data for variances and flag concerns.
  • Build industry knowledge by monitoring and researching relevant industry news and trends, ESG policies, best practices, businesses, and Climate Frameworks. Compile weekly digests for executive leadership and support the preparation of external industry trends briefings/newsletters.
  • Support RE Techs Compliance and Policy Team to gain experience in monitoring and tracking of state and local government benchmarking, energy efficiency, and/or carbon emissions ordinances. Gain knowledge, skills, and abilities in conducting research into ordinances and gathering the necessary information to populate RE Techs database.
  • Support RE Techs ESG Reporting Team to gain experience in preparing submissions to ESG and sustainability reporting frameworks, such as GRESB, UNPRI, GRI, etc.
  • Support RE Techs Climate & Energy Team by conducting research and synthesizing information related to carbon emission reduction and renewable energy. Conduct assessments to determine property climate risk.
  • Support the Climate Partnership Programs Team to gain experience with government, non-profit, and association clients, such as the EPA ENERGY STAR Program and the DOE Better Buildings Program by researching and synthesizing information into 1-pagers, organizing information into spreadsheets, using charts and graphs to visually display the information.
  • Assist in the ESG Programs and Green Building Certifications Teams to gain experience in the preparation of property certification materials, including IREM Certified Sustainable Property, LEED Existing Buildings, BREEAM, Fitwel, and others.
  • Build knowledge of logistics, preparation, and running of meetings, events, and/or webinars. Learning activities may include scheduling, supporting registration, coordinating with presenters to prepare and collect materials, providing technical support during the event, and/or attending and taking notes.
  • Become well-versed in the performance of quantitative tasks such as data gathering and analysis, Excel calculations, development of graphs and visualizations, and data QA/QC.
  • Assist the Marketing, Communications, and Design Team by drafting social media posts.
  • Gain professional experience in preparing written materials, such as emails, reports, meeting notes, fact sheets, presentations, resource tools, and case studies.
  • Perform clerical duties, take notes, maintain files, and organize documents; photocopy, scan, etc. as needed.
  • Learn time keeping best practices by properly and accurately tracking all of your time worked and expenses in RE Techs time keeping system. Understand and demonstrate billing to the correct projects and using the correct labor categories.
  • Learn and follow company policies and processes.
  • Perform all other duties as needed and assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with commercial real estate, sustainability, greenhouse gas accounting, energy efficiency, and/or ESG is a plus.

  • Knowledge with online collaboration and file sharing tools, such as SharePoint and the Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Some professional work experience, such as an internship
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
