Senior Manager of Power Origination – (PPA & Commercial Contracts)

Leap29 are working closely with a highly successful renewables business, who have a strong pipeline of activities across the United States and globally,to fill a position as Senior Manager of Power Origination to lead efforts in securing long-term revenue transactions for our U.S. clean energy portfolio.

This role will involve sourcing and negotiating contracts with various off-takers and will be a key part of our U.S. leadership team. The successful candidate will work closely with both internal and external teams to structure renewable energy transactions across our solar, wind, and energy storage assets.

The location is to be based from San Francisco, however my client will consider semi-remote, particularly for candidates located in Texas, where our client have a strong pipeline of activity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead PPA negotiations and manage various commercial contracts for renewable energy and storage projects in multiple U.S. markets.
• Conduct due diligence on acquisitions and greenfield developments.
• Successfully negotiate terms for off-take structures, including PPAs, virtual PPAs, and alternative arrangements.
• Collaborate with executives on energy products, pricing strategies, and risk management.
• Provide strategic direction by understanding market policies and analyzing the competitive landscape.
• Identify and pursue new off-take opportunities, respond to RFPs, and source bilateral deals.
• Market to utilities, large corporate clients, municipalities, and other potential off-take partners.
• Attend industry conferences to network and explore project opportunities.
• Deliver compelling sales presentations to prospects, partners, and end-users.
• Participate in project acquisition negotiations.
• Coordinate with development partners to secure power sales contracts, site agreements, interconnection, and permitting.
• Research and report on relevant state and local regulatory issues.
• Secure off-take agreements for several GW of renewable power and storage assets, performing market analysis to evaluate opportunities.
• Grow and lead the U.S. Power Origination department to achieve industry leadership.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in power origination or marketing.
• Deep understanding of U.S. power markets with the ability to assess, evaluate, and provide insights into evolving conditions.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with global cross-functional teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in renewable energy analytics, economics, and financial modelling is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree is preferred.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Advanced proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable
• Experience in the renewable energy sector.
