Job Position: O & M Technician

Purpose: The Solar Field Engineer/ OM Technician is responsible for performing corrective and preventative maintenance, as well as commissioning activities across several Solar Plants. Majority of the Solar Plants are located in Minnesota, with some out of State travel. The role will work closely with the Energy Services Management, Solar Analyst, other Field Technicians, and other groups across the organization. This position will work remote in Minnesota.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections of mechanical and electrical components.
  • This Job has the possibility for remote work.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and communication issues.
  • Safely work on and operate electrical systems up to 1500VDC.
  • Identify any safety issues and report to management.
  • Fill out Work Orders daily on each task performed.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Be on a rotating on-call schedule and travel on short notice.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to lead apprentices and laborers on occasion.
  • Willingness to ask for assistance from Tech Support, Peers, and Management.
  • Knowledge of electrical hazards and LOTO.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic, network, and communication systems.
  • Ability to navigate monitoring platform and identify plant performance issues.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working on rooftops and in lifts.
  • Ability to identify hazardous issues while maintaining a high level of safety.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of DAS and SCADA preferred.
  • Knowledge of Thermal Imaging preferred.
  • Knowledge of Solar Commissioning preferred.
  • Knowledge of IV Curve Tracing preferred.
  • Knowledge of operating heavy equipment preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minnesota Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or Master).
  • Minimum of 5 years in the electrical industry.
  • Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that represents a history of safe & competent driving.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to drive several hours per day.
  • Ability to walk several miles per day.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Must be capable of working in inclement conditions to include extreme hot and cold temperatures.
