Chemical Engineering People Leader

KBR is looking for a Chemical Engineering People Leader, responsible for the management of the Wilmington Operations Center (WOC) Process Engineering Department. As a front-line leader in this position, with general autonomy, you will:

  • be an integral member of the engineering leadership team at WOC, while being independently accountable for a large staff within the engineering organization

  • set strategic and tactical direction with regard to policy/procedures, work force staffing, and budgeting for the Process Department.

  • participate in decisions regarding the acquisition and execution of Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management (EPCm) contracts.

  • Accountable for all aspects of a diverse staff of engineers within WOC, including day-to-day operations and oversight of the department

    • Setting strategic direction for the hiring and work force staffing within the WOC Process Engineering Department, including active management of staffing levels so that department personnel remain balanced and sustainable

    • Holding regular employee performance conversations, including coaching, training, and developing discipline professionals

    • Recruiting, on-boarding, and orientation of new Process Engineering Department personnel.

    • Problem solving on the spot, developing fit for purpose solutions, and effectively meeting customer needs in real time

  • Steward for the development and maintenance of Process Engineering Department procedures and policies for the KBR Global Process Engineering team, as well as the WOC Process Engineering Department.

  • Facilitation of Process Engineering Department workshare with KBRs global presence.

  • Project technical supervision and approval of project work-hour estimates including documenting basis and risks.

  • Overall technical quality of discipline deliverables, including project audits as part of the Quality Assurance plan.

  • Assist in business development activities, including proposal development, for acquisition of new work.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited school required

  • Certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer strongly recommended

  • Minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience, with an average of 20+ years. Proven experience and competency in the following areas:

    • Technical and administrative capabilities in a Chemical/Process Engineering lead role for capital project execution, preferably in the industrial sector

    • Leading a team of people, either in a project or department leadership role

    • Being a team player and valued collaborator in a complex work environment
