More about the Weekend Dispatch Operator position:
The Weekend Dispatch Operator position will serve as a point of contact for customers to address and resolve issues, provides information and processes transactions in accordance with Transportation Services Policies. A qualified candidate will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, judgment, ability to problem-solve, strong client focus, and the ability to work independently. This position is expected to have a work schedule of Saturday 8:00 PM to Sunday 6:30 AM and Sunday 8:00 PM to Monday 6:30 AM.

More about our Transportation Services department:
UW Transportation Services is a department within Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) on the UW-Madison campus. We serve a variety of customers with a diverse set of parking and transportation needs. Transportation Services is responsible for the coordination and administration of all transportation related services for the UW campus community. Primary functions include the sale/management of parking permits, special event coordination, maintenance and enforcement, construction coordination, lot and booth operations, citation payments and appeals, information technology, financial, transportation planning, and development of multimodal options.

More about the Division of Facilities, Planning, & Management (FP&M):
The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of UW-Madison in support of the university’s education, research, and outreach activities. We are responsible for everything from the building projects that change the face of campus to the flowers that beautify the grounds.

Responsibilities:

Serves as a point of contact for current and potential customers to address and resolve issues, provides information, and processes transactions in accordance with institutional policy. May coordinate work and train staff and student employees.

  • 45% Provides exceptional service, answers questions, or provides information in a specific subject area to (internal, external) (customers, donors, stakeholders) based on set material or standards
  • 10% Troubleshoots and resolves issues in a timely and professional manner
  • 5% Processes customer transactions and may take payments following established policies and procedures
  • 10% Organizes, distributes, and maintains relevant work unit procedures, polices, and updates to ensure accuracy and relevancy of delivered information
  • 5% Monitors and maintains work areas and supplies to meet customer and operational needs
  • 5% Guides and trains staff and student workers
  • 5% Coordinate/communicate with outside vendors such as UWPD, Field Services, Enforcement,
    outside vendors. This may include open/close parking facilities, return lots to normal operation, lot
    counts, etc. Troubleshoots gate errors repair when possible.
  • 5% Effectively completes NSF Collection Forms with required information for collection of parking
    fees, enforces NSF policies within the customer service standards.
  • 5% Continuously updates knowledge of UW Parking rules/regs. with effective communication
    skills to convey this information to the customer.
  • 5% Monitors and responds to traffic flow with a high level working knowledge of T2/SkiData
    parking systems to spontaneously resolve lot traffic issues.

Work Schedule:

The expected schedule for this position is Saturday 8:00PM to Sunday 6:30AM and Sunday 8:0PM to Monday 6:30AM.

Work Type:

Part Time: 50% – 60%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $23.00 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
The minimum hourly rate for this position is $23.00, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive night differential of $2.50 per hour when you work between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
