Whats the job?

The Training Supervisor demonstrates core skills, which include understanding of the company safety policies, adherence to the Principles of Conduct and Action. This position reports to the Plant Manager. This employee must understand the company safety policies, HR policies and procedures, and follow verbal and written instructions. The normal task descriptions are listed below and can change depending on unforeseen circumstances or as assigned by management for the success of the plant. The incumbent will provide leadership to effectively manage all training programs concerned with organizational development and training in accordance with company policies, programs, and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The incumbent works in an environment that is highly interactive and requires excellent communication skills. The position will work closely with the Plant Manager, Human Resources, EHS, and the Management Team. This position demands excellent people skills, tact, and judgment.

  • Manage and coordinate the development of training materials and courses as needed. Develop documents, forms, and processes to ensure consistency, including the preparation of instructional materials.
  • Coordinate training logistics, such as scheduling, tracking, record keeping, and maintaining training materials.
  • Organize, develop, deliver, and oversee or source training programs to meet specific training needs.
  • Create/maintain video/audio job specific training for all hourly positions.
  • Develop training aids such as SOPs, OPLs, JSAs, manuals and work instructions.
  • Assign BOOST training.
  • Work with all departments to assist in maintaining the sites training records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure that new employees, promoted employees, or employees who move into a different position complete their training in a timely manner.
  • Identify internal and external training programs to address competency gaps.
  • Inform and schedule hourly and salaried employees for applicable training opportunities.
  • Work with departments to implement cross training programs, including autonomous maintenance for production operators.
  • Work with area vocational/trade schools to coordinate and develop a training program for skilled trades.
  • Work with supervisors to develop subject matter experts (SMEs) utilizing their experience and capabilities to assist with the training efforts at the plant; work with the SMEs to create operational and safety training materials/lesson plans in a variety of formats.
  • Evaluate training needs for new and existing hourly and salaried employees with identification of areas in employees’ skills that require improvement through gap analysis.
  • Map out training plans for individual hourly and salaried employees, and work with Plant Manager and Human Resources on succession planning.
  • Organize training sessions specific to various roles in multiple plant departments.
  • Process New Hire orientation for all hourly and salaried employees, (Policies overview, SGC Self Service, SGC Benefits and Wellness Programs).
  • Plan annual refresher courses for all staff members.
  • Create and maintain all hourly and salaried training files.
  • Maintain training matrixes.
  • Retain all Training hours/type for year-end reporting requirements and provide to HR by deadline.
  • Ensure all employees receive and complete mandatory training.
  • Design and apply assessment tools to measure training effectiveness.
  • Actively support the People Development Pillar
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?


What do you bring?

  • Bachelors Degree in Business or a related area, as well as two (2) to five (5) years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have a complete and thorough understanding of general business concepts in operations, all of which relate to this position either directly or indirectly.
  • Must have the ability to effectively interact with plant management personnel as well as the hourly and salaried workforce.
  • Must have strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills, as well as strong computer skills and have knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
