Job Summary
The Technical Solutions Manager is responsible for leading and managing the technical aspects of energy storage projects, ensuring the successful delivery of cutting-edge energy storage solutions. You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and overseeing the technical aspects of energy storage systems while providing strategic guidance and support to the project team. This role requires a strong understanding of energy storage technologies, project management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This position typically reports to the Director, Energy Storage Solutions. This position typically has 2-5 direct reports.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the technical aspects of energy storage projects from conception to completion, including design, planning, implementation, and commissioning phases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize energy storage solutions that align with client requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on energy storage technologies, including battery storage, pumped hydro, compressed air, and other emerging storage solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in the field to ensure the implementation of state-of-the-art solutions.
- Communicate effectively with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to understand project requirements, address technical concerns, and provide valuable insights to ensure the successful execution of energy storage projects.
- Identify and assess technical risks associated with energy storage projects and develop mitigation strategies to minimize potential disruptions and ensure project success.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that energy storage solutions meet regulatory compliance, safety standards, and performance expectations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the project team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages the professional growth and development of team members.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, progress reports, and project updates to keep stakeholders informed about the status and performance of energy storage projects.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization, technological advancements, and cost-effective solutions to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of energy storage projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Performance Measurements:
- Percentage of energy storage projects completed within the scheduled timeline. Ability to deliver projects within the allocated budget, with a focus on cost-saving measures without compromising quality and safety standards.
- Feedback from clients and stakeholders regarding the technical solutions provided, considering aspects such as functionality, reliability, and meeting specific project requirements.
- Assessment of the team’s performance, including productivity, collaboration, and adherence to project goals, along with the development and training of team members to enhance their technical capabilities and knowledge.
- Other key performance indicators as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, energy management, or equivalent work experience required. Masters degree or MBA or relevant business management qualification is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with battery energy storage systems.
- Proven experience in technical project management within the energy storage industry, demonstrating a strong track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- In-depth knowledge of energy storage technologies, including their applications, limitations, and market trends. Familiarity with grid integration, renewable energy systems, and energy policy is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing and motivating teams to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality results.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in project management tools, software, and relevant technical applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to dynamic and fast-paced work environments.
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and across remote offices.
