The Middle Market Multinational team provides foreign package and controlled master program solutions to US based multinational companies. You will help build and launch our Middle Market Multinational offering in conjunction with US Middle Market business. You will work cross-functionally to provide seamless worldwide property & casualty coverage for outward international risks. You will manage and grow a profitable book of new business delivering best-in class Underwriting service to your clients supporting the positive image of the company.

This position is typically a self-motivated contributor and your key responsibilities will involve underwriting business in line with the business plan; building guidelines and strategies related to international Property & Casualty Business; collaborating with domestic Middle Market underwriters; cross -selling with other business units; assisting the planning and forecasting process; monitoring aggregate exposure within agreed limits; ensuring all risks written are within the agreed appetite; maintaining awareness of all claims advised; supporting and providing input on all aspects of the account; building and cultivating relationships with brokers and clients; and supporting the design and structure of programs.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
  • Underwrite new business in accordance with US Middle Market goals. Develop and manage underwriting strategies for targets accounts, including cross marketing penetration and specific plans to grow company share in the Middle P&C space.
  • Help build internal strategies and guidelines related to foreign packages and controlled master programs
  • Work cross functionally with AXA XL Network Service Team and Operations to administer programs
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risk.
  • Participate in roundtable discussions on risk assessment and provide mentorship and leadership to peers.
  • Build and enhance relationships with brokers and clients and identify and establish new distribution relationships for the launch of Middle Market Multinational.
  • Maintain expertise with the products, services, priorities and target markets to more effectively enable clients to uncover hidden risks.
  • Promote the company’s expertise by taking leadership roles in client and broker meetings to educate on risk.
  • Maintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Support the business planning and forecasting process; monitor financial exposure within outlined limits; monitor premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
  • Effectively cross-market with other AXA XL lines; meet with brokers and insureds as required.
  • Cultivate key broker relationships in the region to maintain a steady stream of business within our underwriting appetite.
  • Possess an expert level of technical knowledge and skills in product and industry.
You will report to the Underwriting Manager.

  • Some to moderate underwriting experience in International Property & Casualty
  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate a viewpoint.
  • Excellent demonstration of initiative, interpersonal skills, and a professional demeanor are critical.
  • Possess a high and extensive level of technical knowledge and skills including product & industry.
  • Able to apply business understanding and/or management experience to set direction within the segment or function.
  • You should possess robust analytical and problem-solving skills as well as excellent sales and marketing abilities.
  • Effective existing broker relationships in the international property & casualty space
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills combined with an excellent work ethic.
  • Ability to develop and understand business processes, strategy and planning.
  • Knowledge of functionality of systems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
  • Excellent customer service and negotiation skills. A proven track record in development of effective business relationships with brokers and insureds.

The U.S. pay range for this position is USD 95,000 186,500. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individuals skills, experience, and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues pay.
