Senior Scientist required for a pioneering company in the development of rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries for back-up power and energy storage applications.
Our client is seeking a highly experienced individual to lead their battery development and pilot manufacturing team. As the Senior Scientist, you will spearhead the development of new battery technologies, design experiments, conduct research, and establish pilot manufacturing processes for acidic zinc-ion batteries. Your role will involve leading the team in designing, developing, and optimizing new battery chemistries and contributing to new product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop full cells and conduct testing and characterization.
- Conduct thorough reviews of relevant research papers and provide theoretical insights on battery performance.
- Generate innovative ideas to enhance battery performance and longevity.
- Evaluate other technologies and integrate findings into the development roadmap.
- Prioritize and manage the product development schedule.
- Create schedules and Gantt charts to estimate development work leading to production manufacturing.
- Investigate and set up Design of Experiments (DOE) and assist with grant applications.
Qualifications:
- Profound understanding of inorganic chemistry, electrochemistry, or material science.
- At least 5 years of industry experience in the theory and development of aqueous zinc batteries, with a preference for acidic pH environments.
- Proficiency in making, testing, and characterizing pouch cells.
- Strong project management and team leadership skills.
- Experience with pilot manufacturing development.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Experience working with start-ups is essential
